Officials in Los Angeles revealed on Tuesday that more than 40 people are facing new charges connected to violent riots against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations last month.
Among the charges are a 17-year-old juvenile charged with attempted murder, two incidents of protesters allegedly attacking Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department horses, and a man accused of harming a police officer with a flagpole, according to LA District Attorney Nathan Hochman’s press release.
“The large-scale protests may have ended for now, but our work has not,” Hochman said.

The charges were filed after authorities spent weeks clashing with rioters in the streets of Los Angeles, resulting in numerous arrests as law enforcement officials at the local, state, and federal levels worked to control the turmoil sparked by protests against immigration raids in the sanctuary city.
“We are continuing to review evidence, identify suspects and file charges where the law has been broken,” Hochman said. “I want to thank the team of investigators and prosecutors for their tireless efforts to ensure that those who committed criminal acts under the guise of protest are held accountable.”
