Maine’s early defiance against President Donald Trump’s policies regarding women’s sports immediately drew attention from the Trump administration, leading to a significant confrontation between Trump and the state’s Democrat governor, Janet Mills, at the White House in late February.
Thanks to their persistent resistance, in collaboration with Republican state lawmaker Laurel Libby, who has spearheaded the efforts to highlight Maine’s failure to protect women’s sports on a national level, the state has now reached the FAFO stage.
According to a report by RedState, Attorney General Pam Bondi declared that the DOJ would be taking legal action against Maine’s Department of Education for violating Title IX. Bondi emphasized that the DOJ will not stand idly by when women face discrimination in sports, stating, “This is not just about sports; it is also about the personal safety of these young women.”
