Bombshell development in trial of drunk driver Jamie Lee Komoroski who killed bride on her wedding night

A drunk driver has admitted crashing into a newlywed and killing her on her wedding night.

Jamie Lee Komoroski, at the age of 26, confessed to reckless homicide in a Charleston, South Carolina court on Monday for the death of Samantha Miller, aged 34, in April 2023.

She also pleaded guilty to felony DUI and two counts of DUI causing greater bodily injury or death.

Miller’s new husband Aric Hutchinson was also badly-injured after being struck by Komoroski while he and his new wife rode on a golf cart following their Folly Beach nuptials.

Komoroski wore a black suit and appeared to have put on weight ahead of Monday’s court appearance, which had been scheduled as a trial after she previously denied the charges.

Jurors were set to be picked from a pool, but the killer driver’s lawyers instead indicated that she wished to enter a guilty plea.

She looked somber as she entered the courtroom to admit crimes that could see her jailed for 25 years.

Komoroski did not strike a plea deal, meaning a judge does not have to show her leniency for sparing Miller’s family a trial.

Komoroski was three times over the legal limit when she crashed into newlyweds Aric and Samantha Hutchinson, killing the bride

Komoroski was driving at a shocking speed of 65 mph at the time of the crash. Her blood-alcohol content was reportedly three times the legal limit at the time of the crash.

During Monday’s hearing, Miller’s stricken sister Mandi Jenkins branded Komoroski’s behavior ‘selfish senseless and preventable’ on the night of the killer smash.

She said the sound of sirens now traumatizes her, while Miller’s brother Nathan Miller told the court how he suffers a cold pang of dread whenever he gets an unexpected phone call, fearing it may be more bad news.

He also called for Komoroski to receive the maximum sentence, saying ‘It wasn’t an accident to go over 65mph on Folly Beach’s tiny, dark roads.

Miller’s dad Brad Warner was among the angriest speakers, sobbing as he told Komoroski: ‘For the rest of my life I’m always going to hate you, and when you arrive in Hell, I’m going to open the gate for you.’

Miller tragically died at the scene of the crash – just hours after she exchanged vows with Hutchinson – still wearing her wedding dress.

Hutchinson, who survived the crash, suffered two broken legs, extensive facial fractures, and traumatic brain injuries.

Komoroski was initially held in custody without bond before being granted release on a $150,000 bond in March 2024.

Since then, she has been under house arrest while awaiting trial.

In March, exclusive images obtained by DailyMail.com showed Komoroski, settling into her new home in an upscale enclave of Charleston – a world away from the cell she shared for ten months in Al Canon Detention Center, North Charleston.

Notably heavier than the figure who was imprisoned last April, Komoroski could be seen enjoying the apartment’s spacious, screened in balcony on the balmy South Carolina day.

Joined by her mother, Traci, 60, father Charles, 60, and brother, also Charles, 23, Komoroski appeared relaxed and in good spirits as her family members ferried new belongings and every creature comfort she might need into her new pad.

Under the strict conditions of her bond Komoroski cannot leave her apartment for anything other than ‘medical emergencies’ or court appointed dates.

She must wear a GPS and SCRAM ankle bracelet – a device which checks alcohol consumption every thirty minutes by monitoring sweat.
