Law enforcement officers in Los Angeles successfully apprehended a man after a dramatic chase through the San Fernando Valley on Monday afternoon. The suspect had been involved in a chaotic pursuit, during which he collided with several cars.
At around 5 p.m. local time, the suspect abandoned his vehicle and was swiftly tackled by a deputy from the Los Angeles County sheriff’s department. Following this, a group of deputies quickly surrounded the suspect and placed him under arrest, ultimately bringing an end to the hour-long standoff.
The climax of the pursuit took place near Vineland Avenue and Hortense Street in North Hollywood. After running a red light, the suspect’s vehicle was hit from behind by another car at an intersection, leading to the culmination of the intense chase.
The suspect then hit a median and the car’s airbags deployed, prompting a quick end to the chase.
Multiple sheriff’s deputies gathered behind the car and attempted to get the driver out, but the suspect refused to surrender.
AIR7 with our sister station, ABC7 Eyewitness News in Los Angeles, was over the pursuit around 3:15 p.m. as the suspect weaved in and out of traffic on surface streets in the Sun Valley and Sunland areas.
Authorities say the suspect was wanted for assault with a deadly weapon.
