For those who don’t know by now, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos are, in fact, married. News flash!
During an episode of Live with Kelly and Mark last Friday, both hosts shared that throughout their time together, they have never noticed each other having bad breath, which Consuelos believes suggests two things.
“First of all, watching you brush your teeth, you brush your teeth for 17 minutes,” he said to his wife and co-host. “It’s a long time.”
Ripa agreed, likening her own method to using a dental cleanser. Consuelos playfully suggested that there are times when he suspects she might be intentionally delaying things, which Ripa confessed to doing occasionally.
Consuelos jokingly hinted, “At times, I wonder if you’re hoping I’ll doze off just so we won’t have to talk anymore. But, there are times when I really need to have a conversation with you. I genuinely want to connect with you.”
Ripa conceded that this want is sometimes “very palpable,” prompting her to slow down.
“You know when you’re waiting for the parking spot, and you’re like, OK, you got in, you put your keys in the ignition. Back up, so I can get in. And you know that person is slowing down because you know that… they’re waiting?” she asked. “So if I feel a sense of urgency, that’s actually quite frightening to me, so I will slow things down.”
Ultimately, Consuelos concluded that they either “have really clean mouths” or are “nose-blind to each other” and actually have “horrible breath.” However, Ripa insisted that she’s “very nose-sensitive,” and deemed Consuelos a “weirdo” who never has morning breath.
“I mean, it doesn’t smell minty fresh, but it’s not morning breath. You never have morning breath,” she told Consuelos. “I know I have morning breath because I sleep with a retainer.”
After such intimate conversation, Consuelos felt the need to add, “If you’re just tuning in, and you don’t know at home that we’re married and we live with each other… Because if you’re like a casual viewer.”
Ripa joked, “We’re not and we don’t. We’re just having an affair. I said it.”
Consuelos mused, “Can you imagine if somebody has never seen the show, and they’re like, ‘Wait, that guy’s talking about doing what?’”
Ripa teased, “I work under the assumption that most people have never seen the show and they’re like, ‘Those two are so strange. How have they not lost their jobs?’”
