Is this resistance or treachery?
During the weekend, on MSNBC, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson declared that Chicago, under his leadership, will persist in its “sanctuary” policies and will defy any attempts by the federal government to uphold the law. When did upholding the law become unpopular to anyone except a wrongdoer?
Mayor Johnson has pledged to oppose the Trump Administration’s efforts to remove criminal illegal immigrants who pose public safety threats from Chicago. He expressed his commitment to this cause by stating that they will defy these actions by taking various measures, such as hitting the streets or resorting to legal challenges and policy enforcement.

The mayor said:
Mayor Johnson also acknowledged the heightened anxiety, fear, and uncertainty instigated by the current administration. He emphasized that societies do not progress or prosper under such conditions of fear. The city of Chicago takes pride in being a welcoming city, where local law enforcement officers do not double as federal ICE agents. Therefore, maintaining the trust and confidence of all residents is crucial as they strive to strengthen and extend relationships within the community.
Let’s unpack that statement.
First of all, there’s no “anxiety, fear, or trepidation” among anyone in the country legally, except for the nitwits and low-information types who buy into the blatherings of hack leftist politicians. But it’s the “resist” part that’s troublesome. The mayor, speaking on behalf of the city of Chicago, is promising to resist the federal government in the performance of its constitutional duties. Mayor Johnson has never read the Constitution, has no idea what the Supremacy Clause is, and has no intention of finding out.
Here’s the question: Has the city of Chicago’s mayor just pronounced that this city, one of America’s major cities, is in rebellion against the government of the United States? If so, what action should the United States take?
