Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, is back in the spotlight. And this time, it’s on her terms.
Netflix has released the official trailer for its upcoming cooking and lifestyle show, With Love, Meghan. The show seems to give viewers a peek into Meghan Markle’s seemingly perfect life.
In the trailer, Markle is shown sharing laughs and heartwarming moments with friends in the kitchen, where she will be demonstrating how to prepare dishes like focaccia and ceviche. She emphasizes that the show is all about connecting with friends and possibly making new ones.
The sneak peek reveals that Markle will have several guests joining her in the kitchen throughout the season. The lineup includes renowned chef Roy Choi, actress and writer Mindy Kaling, and celebrated author Alice Waters, in addition to other surprise guests yet to be announced.
“This is probably one of the most glamorous moments of my life,” Kaling jokes at one point. You and me both, sister!
The trailer will leave you with just one question, however. Will Prince Harry be making an appearance?
Luckily for us nosy viewers, the Prince will be joining her on the show. But the trailer includes just a glimpse of them embracing at the very end. In fact, it looks like we’ll be seeing a lot more of their pet beagle, Guy, than we will be seeing of Prince Harry or their children.
This is an interesting pivot for the Duchess. She and Prince Harry famously absconded to California after their whirlwind wedding and its aftermath left them estranged from the royal family. Rather than returning to her acting roots, Markle has been serving as an executive producer on several Netflix projects created under the $100 million deal she and Prince Harry signed with the streamer in 2020.
As she gushes over flower arranging and beekeeping on the show, With Love, Meghan feels very reminiscent of Barefoot Contessa. Some people may be growing weary of these controversial royals, but there is certainly still something endearing about Markle and her new Netflix series. If done right, Markle could use her cultural intrigue to become the next Martha Stewart of the digital age with this new show.
All eight episodes of With Love, Meghan premieres on Netflix Jan. 15.
