Nicole Curtis, known for her work on HGTV, is making a comeback this summer with a new home renovation project. This marks her return after a three-year break, during which she faced a significant personal challenge that she described as “devastating.”
While Curtis has not disclosed the specifics of this setback, she shared how it prompted her to reassess her priorities. This reevaluation possibly led her to discover the property in Wyoming that she will be renovating in the upcoming season of her show, Rehab Addict.
In a recent interview with People, Curtis opened up about the impact of this event on her life. She described it as a moment that deeply affected her and made her question how she would overcome it. Through prayer and introspection, she came to a pivotal decision: either let the setback consume her for an extended period or gather the strength to move forward.
This marks her second time returning to HGTV after a hiatus. She first took a hiatus from 2018 to 2022 when she returned with the spinoff series Rehab Addict Rescue. Now, she’s back on HGTV with the ninth season of Rehab Addict.
Though she did not get into detail about what she has been up to during her three-year hiatus, Curtis wrote in a recent social media post, “Taking 3 years to build my own production company, develop my own shows and save 2 houses at the same time 1500 miles apart – walk in the park… Tune-in and see what I’ve been keeping secret and why I’m still as passionate as I was in Season 1 in 2010.”
The HGTV star told People how she came across the home that she will be renovating in the new upcoming season of Rehab Addict when a solo trip to Paris and Greece went wrong in July 2022.
As Curtis described it, she bought the 1890s Wyoming house sight unseen when a trip to Paris and Greece went wrong in 2022. “I didn’t have a credit card on me. I had $72 of change in dollar bills stashed in my bag. So I landed in Paris without a wallet. I thought, well, you know what? This is it. This is my test. I’m going to figure it out,” she said. Instead of continuing her trip as planned, she made her way back to Wyoming to start on her new project.
Now, fans will get to see the Rehab Addict star revive that 1890s Wyoming home get some much-needed TLC when the series returns.
“This house needed me and I needed this house,” she said.
In addition to the Wyoming home that she purchases sight unseen, Curtis will also be restoring “one of the dirtiest abandoned homes she’s ever seen,” per a press release.
Episodes will be available to stream next day on HBO Max and Discovery+.
Rehab Addict premieres on HGTV Tuesday, June 24, at 9/8c.
