NYPD detective Melissa Mercado under fire after appearing as a stripper in raunchy hip-hop music video

An NYPD detective from the Special Victim’s Unit was captured in a viral hip-hop video dancing on a strip club floor, where she was shown flaunting her body and receiving dollar bills, as reported by DailyMail.com.

The detective, Melissa Mercado, works in the Bronx handling cases of sexual violence. She appeared in the music video for the song ‘Doin That’ with hip-hop artist S-Quire, dressed in a revealing bra and G-string.

In the video, S-Quire is seen rapping about a girl named Keisha while sporting sunglasses and admiring Melissa as she dances on the stage.

‘A** is thick. Just want to smash it quick.’

S-Quire spits out X-rated lyrics about Mercado, 28, performing sex acts. She gives him a personal lap dance, then ends up in an apartment sprawled out on a bed.

‘I like the way she doin that, the way she sliding up the pole, the way she doin that, the way she drop it to the floor,’ S-Quire raps in the chorus.

The dancer isn’t named in the video, but fellow NYPD officers recognized her earlier this week, sharing snickering comments as they circulated a link to the video.

Mercado did not respond to DailyMail.com’s request for comment, but seconds after a message was left on her phone her social media pages were taken down. The NYPD did not respond to repeated requests for comment.

S-Quire, an artist from Hempstead, Long Island, whose real name is Phabian Winfield said he had no idea she was an officer until DailyMail.com contacted him late Tuesday.

He described her as a friend and said he only knew her by her nickname, Honeybee, which is also Mercado’s handle on social media.

‘I didn’t know what she did for a living,’ he told DailyMail.com, laughing. ‘She doesn’t seem like a detective. When you think of detectives, you think of Special Victims Unit on the TV.’

‘This is interesting. I’m kind of blown away,’ he added. ‘I don’t know what to say about Honeybee at this point. Ah, Honeybee, Honeybee, Honeybee.’

Posted in February, Doin That has garnered millions of views on social media, including 1.2 million on YouTube where it was posted by World Star Hip Hop, and 1.1 million on S-Quire’s Instagram page.

It’s also made his young temptress in the video the talk of the NYPD, where rank and file cops have shared not just the video but also other thirst-trap photos Mercado has posted of herself on Instagram and Facebook.

The detective, the mom of a young boy, took down her Instagram page earlier this week as her steamy performance went viral.

The NYPD has yet to respond to a request for comment, and it’s unclear whether Mercado has violated any departmental rules, such as conduct unbecoming of an officer.

Some officers, speaking with DailyMail.com, described Mercado’s actions as an embarrassment to the department.

‘I really don’t understand why this woman would do something that dumb,’ one detective told DailyMail.com. ‘We are supposed to be held to a higher standard as role models.’

Lawyer Eric Sanders, a retired NYPD officer who represents many cops, said Mercado’s actions are ‘inconsistent with the values and professional standards the public expects from law enforcement – especially those entrusted with investigating sensitive cases involving special victims.’

‘The department must conduct a thorough review of this detective’s conduct, caseload, and overall fitness for duty to ensure accountability and maintain public confidence in its officers,’ Sanders said.

Speaking with DailyMail.com, S-Quire described her as a ‘friend’ and ‘associate,’ saying he met her through the video’s producer, Picture Perfect.

He said she volunteered to participate, and that filming took place in early 2022 at Club Vanity, a gentlemen’s club in Queens. He said Picture Perfect knows the owner and was allowed to film there for free. They were there for 3 ½ hours, before the club opened for business, he said.

‘She just wanted to help me out with the video, help me get my vision out,’ S-Quire explained. ‘I just thought she had a great look.’

He described ‘Honeybee,’ despite her video image, as ‘cool and laid back, just a regular, down to earth human being.’

S-Quire said he was surprised to see the video take off like it has, and suspects she too was surprised and may have panicked as it exploded online.

‘I think she thought the video wasn’t going to go anywhere,’ S-Quire said. ‘This is just one of those things.’

He said fans have taken note of the subject’s beauty but also criticized the fact she’s clearly not professionally trained as a strip dancer.

‘I’ve got a lot of people from the video calling me saying you should have got somebody who knew how to dance,’ S-Quire told DailyMail.com. ‘But listen, man, when you get volunteers, that’s what happens.’
