As I’ve always said, one Joshua Jackson is simply not enough Joshua Jacksons. Clearly, the writers and producers on Doctor Odyssey agree.
Ryan Murphy’s show on ABC features the familiar face from Dawson’s Creek taking on a dual role as his own twin, Dr. Max (Jackson). Dr. Max decides to return to his hometown to visit his family, shedding light on his background which was previously only touched upon briefly. Surprisingly, viewers learn about the existence of his twin brother in the 15th episode titled “Crew Week” after seeing a teaser clip where Max expresses his desire to visit home.
Captain Robert (Don Johnson) is caught off guard when Max’s twin brother greets him at the door with a warm welcome, raising questions about the unexpected reunion. Meanwhile, the teaser unfolds various crises facing The Odyssey’s medical team sans their leader. Crew members Avery (Phillipa Soo) and Tristan (Sean Teale) are shown handling different medical emergencies independently.

Among the challenges, Rosie (Jacqueline Toboni) is confronted with a potential amputation due to an accident, whereas Spencer (Marcus Emanuel Mitchell) appears to be experiencing health complications stemming from a prior shark bite incident shown in Episode 9. The unfolding drama sets the stage for an intense upcoming episode filled with surprises and revelations.
With only four episodes left until the Season 1 finale — which could also serve as the series finale if ABC foregoes giving the show a second season — there is still so much more drama to unpack.
The first 14 episodes of Doctor Odyssey are currently streaming on Hulu and Disney+. New episodes air on ABC Thursdays at 9 PM PT and stream the next day.
