Chicago O'Hare Airport shooting leaves 1 injured after fight erupts inside terminal

One person is injured after a fight erupted inside a terminal at Chicago O’Hare International Airport, leading to a shooting outside, reports say.

Footage captured by Fox32Chicago showed a bullet hole in one of the windows of Terminal 2 following the incident around 1 a.m. this morning.

An airport worker known as Mahmoud informed the Chicago Sun-Times that the altercation began with a physical fight before escalating to gun violence inside a car.

According to police information reported by Fox32Chicago, a 25-year-old man sustained two gunshot wounds in the lower body and is currently in stable condition after receiving medical treatment at a local hospital. Another individual is said to be under investigation by law enforcement authorities.

It’s unclear what led up to the altercation or how many people were involved.

Retired police officer James Van Schaick described hearing what he interpreted as rapid, automatic gunfire. Looking out from the hotel where he was staying, Van Schaick witnessed people dispersing in different directions in response to the commotion. Although his view was obstructed by the angle from which he observed the scene, he recounted hearing multiple individual gunshots following the initial burst of gunfire.
