Patti LuPone may hold a significant role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but fans shouldn’t expect her character to magically return anytime soon.
The award-winning actress shared that her involvement in the Disney+ series Agatha All Along will not continue for a second season, despite her hopes of working with the show’s creator, Jac Schaeffer, again.
LuPone recounted a conversation with Schaeffer where she was informed of her character’s fate, expressing her disappointment at not being able to explore her role further in a potential second season.
According to LuPone, Schaeffer is firm on her creative approach. “[Schaeffer] said, ‘I don’t do second seasons,’” she recalled. “She said, ‘They wanted me to do a second season of WandaVision and I didn’t.’ She said, ‘There’s too much to write,’ so she does one-offs and I’m really hoping and praying that someday I get to work with her again because she’s magic.”
Meanwhile, Kathryn Hahn, who first brought Agatha Harkness to life in WandaVision, has expressed interest in returning to the MCU.
“I think everyone would be thrilled to come back, of course, in any capacity,” Hahn told Deadline in December. “It was a very life-altering, deep experience in Atlanta, Georgia, with just this very small cast on the soundstage, day after day after day.”
Agatha All Along follows Hahn’s Agatha as she leads a group of fellow sorceresses—including LuPone, Aubrey Plaza, Sasheer Zamata, Ali Ahn, Debra Jo Rupp, and Joe Locke—down the mythical Witches’ Road, a path meant to grant them their deepest desires.
