California police discovered a monkey traveling in a Rolls-Royce Ghost when they stopped the vehicle on suspicion of drunk driving.
According to authorities, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers in Madera County pulled over a luxury vehicle on Highway 99 on Monday night for driving at an ‘excessive speed’.
The driver, Ali Mused Adelmuhomed, was detained for driving under the influence and possession of cannabis for sale.Â
Before his arrest, police found the adorable one-month-old spider monkey wearing a pink polka-dotted shirt in the reckless driver’s jacket pocket.Â
‘Some next level monkey business!’ the CHP wrote in a Facebook statement.Â
It is illegal to own primates in California, so police tacked on a charge of possession of an exotic animal.Â
The small monkey was taken by Animal Control to receive proper care and Adelmuhomed was booked at the Madera County Jail.Â
‘With New Years in a few hours, CHP Madera reminds everyone to celebrate,’ the CHP said.Â

The Rolls Royce, valued at more than $400,000, was towed, according to KFDM.Â
The CHP’s post about the arrest sparked hundreds of online reactions, with many gushing over the culprit’s ‘little friend.’
‘Awwww I’ll take him love monkeys,’ one user reacted.
Another chimed in: ‘Omg the monkey is so cute!!’
‘I want oneeeee,’ someone added. Â
This bizarre incident comes a little over a month after an influencer was arrested for a Texas DUI crash with her pet spider monkey in the car.
Fashion influencer Brandi Botello had her three-month-old furry friend taken away after she wrecked her car with him inside.

Named Jorgie Boy, the spider monkey was taken to Funky Monkey Ranch near Burleson after the accident, where staff said he had rickets.Â
A six-pound monkey, half the weight he should be for his age, was found with tiny fractures in his bones. These fractures were a result of metabolic bone disease caused by inadequate nutrition.
Botello begged police to give Jorgie Boy back after Dallas police found them in a car wreck on the early morning of November 9.
Jorgie Boy was sleeping on her lap when the vehicle hit the curb so hard its wheels flew off, but the monkey was not injured from the impact.
She said: ‘These past few days have been the hardest days of my life, I’m devastated. I can’t eat, I can’t sleep, I can’t sit still.
The caretaker of the monkey expressed his strong bond with the animal, mentioning how they do everything together, from sharing food to taking baths. He is determined to do everything possible to bring the monkey back home.
‘It breaks my heart knowing his probably caged up when he’s never been in one before he’s with me 24/7.’
The driver was also charged with possession of cannabis for sale and taken to the Madera County Jail
Botello faced being charged with a DUI, but claimed it was a ‘very drunk’ young man who was behind the wheel and she moved to the driver’s seat moments before police arrived.
Botello admitted she was drunk and passed out in the passenger seat and shouldn’t have put herself or Jorgie Boy in that situation, but called it ‘one mistake.’
Dallas police gave the monkey to the City of Irving, where Botello lives, which transferred him to a wildlife sanctuary.Â
Botello has been fighting to try and get him back.Â
