Two “passing motorists” assisted a police officer in rescuing an elderly woman who was trapped in a burning vehicle after a crash in Chester, New York, located approximately an hour outside New York City.
Chester police were dispatched to the scene of a rollover crash on Kings Highway around 4 a.m. Sunday.
“While they were responding, updates were given that the operator was trapped in the vehicle and the vehicle was on fire,” the police mentioned in a Monday Facebook post. “Officer Nicholas Contino was the first to arrive on the scene. He provided his fire extinguisher to one of the passing motorists and began locating the operator inside the vehicle.”
In a video shared on Facebook showing the police response, one of the Good Samaritan motorists can be observed swiftly extinguishing the flames with the fire extinguisher.
