On Thursday in Washington D.C.’s Trinidad neighborhood, at least six victims were injured when a suspect, who was intoxicated, started stabbing people randomly, including himself. The incident occurred around 3:22 p.m., with Metropolitan Police Department officers responding to find multiple people with stab wounds.
During a press conference, Pamela Smith, the chief of the Metropolitan Police Department, informed reporters that the suspect was in an altered mental state, likely due to an unknown substance. The attack was entirely unprovoked and led to several individuals sustaining injuries.
The suspect acted unpredictably and irrationally, causing chaos and harm in the community. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of remaining vigilant and promoting safety measures in public spaces to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
“While walking down the street, the individual began stabbing himself, and then he stabbed a female acquaintance who was also with him,” Smith described.

“The grandmother and her granddaughters were getting in a car, primarily minding their own business, doing whatever they were doing,” Smith said.
