Pope Leo XIV shared a message of peace in his debut social media post this Tuesday to engage actively with followers through the official papal accounts.
The decision was announced by the Dicastery for Communication, stating that the pontiff aims “to maintain an active social media presence through the official papal accounts on X and Instagram.”
In his first post since taking over the Vatican’s official Instagram and X accounts, he repeated the first words he said to the world as pope.

Before assuming the papacy, the then Cardinal Robert Prevost had sporadically used an X account created in 2011. The account had been dormant since July 2023 until earlier this year when he reappeared to criticize the immigration policies of the Trump administration and remarks made by Vice President JD Vance. The latter had diverged from Francis regarding the administration’s immigration approach, which included plans for mass deportations.
