President Donald Trump, who secured a victory in the state of Michigan in 2024 by a margin of 80,103 votes, has revealed plans for his first visit back to the state since his election in November of the previous year. He is set to visit Macomb County, which holds significance as the home of the Reagan Democrats.
Having won Macomb in all three of his previous campaigns, Trump nearly clinched the entire state’s victory in 2024 solely through this county, where he garnered a substantial lead of 69,683 votes. Once again, the blue-collar workers of this county stayed loyal to their tendencies and favored the Republican incumbent by a considerable edge.
I caught a tweet from the press secretary and then a story from the Detroit News about the visit.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated on Wednesday, “President Trump is looking forward to his upcoming visit to Michigan, where he will hold a rally in Macomb County to commemorate his first 100 days in office.”
“Michiganders are benefitting from President Trump’s agenda to revitalize our economy and secure the southern border, and the best is yet to come!“

Has he been busy or something?
Of course, Trump has been on a tear since reassuming the office on January 20th of this year, and you would have to be in a cave to have not heard of all or some of the things that he has tackled along with his administration since reassuming the White House.
Now, maybe you recall a couple of weeks back, there was a delegation of elected officials from Michigan at the White House for a meeting, and the 47th President actually praised the governor and also said this…
“I think we’re going to be successful, governor. I think we’ll be very successful there,” Trump said about Selfridge in remarks in the Oval Office with Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and Republican state House Speaker Matt Hall standing nearby the president’s desk.
Whitmer had her “moment” when she covered her face with folders as the cameras were clicking. Gretch is such a card.

She was so exposed that she shielded her face from cameras, per NYT.

Now, the surprise part of this equation, I have been led to believe, is that Selfridge Air National Guard Base will gain additional missions to keep it open and thriving. The base has been a fixture in the county forever, and the president already indicated at the White House that he would be in favor of keeping it open.
However, and this is a BIGÂ however, there has been a lot of lobbying behind the scenes to get Trump to endorse earlier than most normal politicians would do so, 19 months before the general election in 2026.Â
The reason is quite simple. Michigan is a blue state that has twice turned red (or purple, depending on your math) Â in the past three POTUS elections, with both times the state going red when Donald Trump was at the top of the ticket. So if Trump is not leading the way, the folks down ticket, running statewide, have some problems to solve.
A Trump endorsement in the primary is almost a guaranteed winner, and the sooner you get that taken care of, the sooner you can start raising cash for the general election.
The 2026 cycle has four statewide offices in play, with a United States Senate seat, governor, secretary of state, and attorney general all up for grabs.
Current congressman John James has already announced his intention to seek the GOP nomination for Governor, which I wrote about right here…
