‘Yellowstone’ Season 5 Episode 14 Preview Teases John Dutton’s Funeral And A Fiery Finale

As Yellowstone Season 5 draws to a close, fans of Taylor Sheridan’s beloved Western series are already speculating about what Season 6 may hold. There’s a glimmer of hope with the marketing of the upcoming finale as a season finale rather than a series finale.

The end of Season 5 left viewers hanging, but a sneak peek of Episode 14, the Season 5 finale, hinted at more drama and emotional moments to come. The teaser showed glimpses of a funeral for John Dutton (Kevin Costner) and emotional scenes with Beth (Kelly Reilly) and Kayce (Luke Grimes).

In the Season 5 finale preview of Yellowstone, fans caught a glimpse of Rip (Cole Hauser) and Mo (Mo Brings Plenty) engaged in mysterious nighttime activities. There’s tension in the air as Beth vows to avenge her father’s death, promising intense developments in the episodes to come.

Looking for a frame-by-frame breakdown of Paramount Network’s newest Episode 514 teaser trailer ahead of the premiere on Sunday, December 15? We’ve got you covered. Just be warned: Spoilers lie ahead.

Whether or not Yellowstone continues beyond Season 5, after such a unique two-part season and a series of major deaths, the Season 5 finale has several loose ends in need of tying and should ideally bring fans and characters alike to a satisfying place of closure.

The quick look into Season 5’s final episode — marketed as “the special season finale event” — kicks off with Beth telling Rip, “Funeral home called, he’s ready. We’re doing it today.”

We see people walking to the Dutton family cemetery; Beth standing outside crying with her hand over her mouth; and Rip, Kayce, Lloyd (Forrie J. Smith) and others carrying John Dutton’s casket out of the barn. Longtime Yellowstone fans — love or hate the way Season 5 handled the powerful patriarch’s death — are sure to shed some tears when the series lays Costner’s character to rest and officially marks the end of an era.

As the episodes following his death reminded us, though John Dutton is gone, he’s never forgotten, so the fight to uphold his legacy and protect his land will carry on long after he’s in the ground.

“I made a promise to your father once. Your people are buried in that land and so are mine,” Dutton ally Thomas Rainwater (Gil Birmingham) tells Beth or Kayce.

Speaking of Kayce, from the looks of the finale preview, he’s taking his dad’s funeral incredibly hard. We see Monica running to hug him, followed by another shot of him breaking down in tears.

The shot of Kayce crying transitions to Rip standing alone at the cemetery tossing a shovel on the ground. A voice, which sounds like Rip’s, explains, “Some people deal with death differently,” and with that, the preview’s energy shifts.

The vibes go from mourning to revenge, with shots of Mo wearing face paint with a group of supporters behind him on horseback at night, a determined Beth walking as though she’s on a mission, a shirtless Kayce, Jamie driving a car, and a man in a cowboy hat emerging from his truck at night and lighting a match.

As the original Season 5, Part 2 trailer showed, Rip is the one who lights a match, tosses it in the back of an SUV, then hops in his truck with Lloyd and drives away from the flames.

Whose car was it? We’ll have to wait and see, but the final Episode 14 teaser shot shows Beth leaning down to her father’s casket, whispering, “I will avenge you,” so Jamie is likely in for a rude awakening before the season concludes.
