US waiting for Putin’s ceasefire proposal, says Rubio
Secretary Marco Rubio informed senators that the United States is anticipating a proposal from Russian President Vladimir Putin following his discussion with President Donald Trump. Rubio stated that the proposal is expected to outline a path towards achieving a ceasefire.
During his visit to the western Kursk region, Russian President Vladimir Putin made his first appearance since Russian forces removed Ukrainian troops from the area last month.
During the visit, Putin met with volunteer organizations in the region and went to the Kursk-II nuclear power plant, according to the Kremlin.
State television broadcasted footage of Putin in the region, where he was seen engaging with volunteers and local officials, including acting Governor Alexander Khinshtein.

This comes after Russian and Ukrainian officials met in Turkey last week for their first direct peace talks in years, but the two sides failed to reach a ceasefire agreement.
The negotiations were the first face-to-face talks between the two countries since the early weeks of the war that began with a February 2022 invasion by Moscow.
