Wednesday Morning Minute

TOP O’ THE MORNIN’

As to the Obama bros, I would say: Biden has once again proven himself to be exactly the president you deserve.

She needs to pay attention to the rear-view mirror, as she might attract the attention of a young Democrat looking to retaliate against her, similar to what she did to Joe Crowley.

This is a one-way ticket to a chaotic situation, and Joy is right there in the front row. The interesting part is that Donald Trump is the one leading the way.

WHAT’S ON TAP?

Today on Capitol Hill…

It’s a busier day on the Hill Wednesday, with several hearings/meetings set:

  • House Financial Services — Innovation Revolution: How Technology is Shaping the Future of Finance
  • Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations — Hearings to examine new revelations about airline fees
  • House Judiciary, Immigration Integrity, Security, and Enforcement Subcommittee — “Oversight of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services”
  • House Education and the Workforce, Early Childhood, Elementary, and Secondary Education Subcommittee — Back to Basics: America’s Founding, Civics, and Self-Government in K-12 Curricula
  • House Oversight and Accountability, Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic — to Consider the Following: 1. Report on “After Action Review of the COVID-19 Pandemic: The Lessons Learned and a Path Forward”
  • House Oversight and Accountability, Economic Growth, Energy Policy, and Regulatory Affairs Subcommittee — “Exposing the Truth on LNG: How the Administration Played Politics with America’s Energy Future”

White House What’s Up

President Joe Biden is currently in Angola for his official visit. On Wednesday, he is scheduled to be in Lobito, visiting the port terminal and a food processing plant (how fancy!) and then participating in the Lobito Corridor Trans-Africa Summit. After that, he will be flying back to the United States.

Full Court Press…

Today’s oral argument at the Supreme Court is sure to have eyes on it. The case is U.S. v. Skrmetti and involves this question:

Meanwhile, in New York, the jury will resume deliberations in the Daniel Penny trial, with Penny seemingly receiving support from a somewhat surprising figure.

The federal criminal cases against Hunter Biden are officially terminated, but not without a verbal smackdown from one of the judges.

MORNING MUSING

As my friend Tony Katz rightly noted on X this AM, “We are 47 days away from ’47’ taking office.”

I’ll add, “God willin’ and the crick don’t rise,” as my beloved Grandma used to say. There’s a lot of runway between now and then, and lots of folks with other nefarious agendas eager to muck it up, no doubt. I know time goes by increasingly faster as we age, but this is one month-and-a-half stretch I think I’d like to see fly by in the blink of an eye.
