According to Reuters, two sources knowledgeable about the situation reported that Russia has presented a set of requirements to U.S. officials that must be satisfied for the conflict in Ukraine to come to a resolution.
The requests are also aimed at resetting the Kremlin’s relations with Washington, D.C., the outlet noted.
The exact contents of the list are not yet known, but they are allegedly similar to demands previously presented to Ukraine, the U.S. and NATO.
Russian and American officials have allegedly discussed the terms over the past few weeks in person and virtually, the people told Reuters.
The Kremlin, in addition, stated on Wednesday that they are awaiting further specifics on the suggestion before making any remarks. Marco Rubio, the Secretary of State, mentioned that he intends to inform Russia about the proposal.
Rubio relayed to the press, “We will personally deliver the message,” referring to Russia. “We will communicate that Ukraine is ready to cease all military actions and initiate immediate discussions to achieve a lasting resolution to the conflict. The response from Russia will determine our progress towards peace. A positive response would signify significant advancement and a genuine opportunity for peace. Conversely, a negative response would be regrettable, revealing their true intentions.”
Russia has so far opposed anything short of a permanent end to the conflict and has not accepted any concessions.
Trump’s special envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, is expected to travel to Moscow this week, a source familiar with the matter told Fox News on Tuesday.
Fox News Digital’s Stephen Sorace and Reuters contributed to this report.
