Comments Jennifer Lopez made about her ex-boyfriend Diddy in a 2002 interview have resurfaced amid the music mogul’s bombshell sex trafficking trial.
The rapper, 55, is currently on trial after pleading not guilty to allegations of sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion; racketeering conspiracy; and transportation to engage in prostitution.
A year after their 2001 split, Lopez, 55, reflected on the romance in a Primetime: Special Edition interview with Diane Sawyer who asked her if she was ‘afraid’ during the relationship.
Lopez replied she was not frightened and insisted the relationship was merely not a good fit for her.
The video, posted by the Instagram account feltitagain on Sunday, was captioned ‘Remember this J-lo interview # Jenniferlopez #jlo and #pdiddy #seancombs #puffy #hoodmemes #hoodnews #plot #love.’
The topic of Diddy came up in the interview with a montage of the pair during happier times as Sawyer lamented in a voiceover, ‘And what about Sean Combs, Puffy, P Diddy, the man who courted controversy if not outright danger? He always seemed to be the one in control. We wondered, looking at the girl on the red carpet, who was she?’

But the relationship is clearly in the rearview mirror for Lopez, who was spotted attending Ring Them Bells! A Celebration for John Kander on Monday amid her ex’s trial
Diane then asks Lopez, ‘Was she afraid?’, referring to the Maid In Manhattan star.
‘Um, no, I don’t think she was afraid, I just think that I, at that time was uh, cared very deeply for Sean, and you know we just… didn’t have the same kind of ideals about life and family and stuff like that,’ she said. ‘It just wasn’t a good relationship for me. It didn’t have so much to do with him as it had to do with me at the time.
‘I had to learn to care about myself a little bit more and put up certain boundaries of what I would accept and wouldn’t accept because really he was just being himself.
‘He wasn’t doing anything wrong, and he felt like he loved me very much and I know he did and I felt like the same way. So if I was unhappy in some way, then I was the one who had to do something. Not him. He was doing everything he wanted to do.’
The pair’s romance first began in 1999 while Jennifer was preparing for the release of her debut album, On The 6, which Sean helped produce.
During their relationship, Jennifer debuted her most famous outfit during the Grammy Awards ceremony in 2000. The green silk chiffon dress from Versace was super low-cut, barely covering her cleavage.
But the couple also hit headlines after Jennifer and Sean were arrested on December 27, 1999 following a shooting at a nightclub.

The singer and then-boyfriend Diddy were at Club New York in Manhattan on December 27, 1999, when gunfire broke out inside the venue.
The music mogul was accused of firing a gun in the shootout that left three people injured, including Natania Reuben, who was struck in the face but miraculously survived.
Both JLo and Diddy were arrested in relation to the incident, but Lopez was not charged and Combs was later acquitted.

Jennifer broke up with the rap mogul a month before his trial was slated to begin in 2001. He was ultimately acquitted on all charges.
But the relationship is obviously in the rearview mirror for JLo, who couldn’t have looked any happier as she enjoyed a very glamorous night on the town on Tuesday.

The outing comes amid her ex’s widely-watched trial.
Diddy’s ex-girlfriend Cassandra ‘Cassie’ Ventura delivered horrifyingly graphic testimonies the first week of the trial alleging that the music mogul physically and psychologically abused her over more than a decade from 2007-2018.
The 38-year-old detailed the regular beatings she allegedly experienced, the rapper’s alleged use of blackmail and scare tactics to coerce and manipulate, depraved sex acts she claims she was forced to participate in – and the medical toll she suffered as a result.
A male escort allegedly hired by Combs to engage in a variety of sexual acts with Ventura during his notorious ‘freak off’ parties also took the stand to explain how ‘Diddy’ purportedly pushed Ventura into unprotected sex with strangers and orchestrated various sexual encounters for his own pleasure.
In response, lawyers for Combs sought to portray Ventura as a willing and eager participant in the music mogul’s sexual lifestyle. His defence says that, while he is guilty of domestic violence, nothing he did amounted to a criminal enterprise.
