Democrats may need to reconsider featuring Kilmar Abrego-Garcia as the representation of their cause, judging by the latest body camera footage. This is not meant as a literal suggestion, as the footage clearly hints at the direction things are heading.
For those not up-to-date with the Abrego-Garcia story, this illegal immigrant was recently repatriated to El Salvador, his country of origin. Landing in CECOT, the gang penitentiary of the Central American nation, which mainly houses MS-13 members, sparked debates on whether proper legal procedures were followed. A number of judges have intervened, and the Trump administration has been instructed to aid in Abrego-Garcia’s return to the US.
However, there’s a significant obstacle: El Salvador rejected the request, and as he is a citizen of that country, the US lacks the authority to overturn his deportation. This has resulted in a deadlock between the conflicting parties.
