Ryan Reynolds looks tense after dodging questions about wife Blake Lively's legal battle with Justin Baldoni in his first TV interview since actress filed complaint

Ryan Reynolds looked tense on Monday after dodging questions about his wife Blake Lively’s legal battle with Justin Baldoni.

The actor, 48, was spotted leaving a New York studio where he had just wrapped up an appearance on the Late Show With Stephen Colbert – marking his first television interview since actress Blake Lively lodged a complaint against her It Ends With Us co-star and director Justin Baldoni.

The scandal unfolded in December when Lively, 37, filed a formal complaint alleging that Baldoni, 41, had sexually harassed her and was engaged in a public relations campaign to tarnish her reputation.

He retaliated with a $400 million defamation suit against Lively, her husband Ryan and the New York Times, which reported her initial complaint.

Despite the ongoing controversy surrounding his wife and the director, sources reportedly shared that the Deadpool star did not touch upon these matters. Instead, during the interview with host Stephen Colbert, 61, he focused on discussing the upcoming fourth season of his television series, Welcome to Wrexham.

Speaking of the programme, which follows the highs and lows of the Welsh football team he co-owns, Ryan said of attending games: ‘It’s mayhem.

‘It’s the ecstasy and joy that you can’t believe exists in this world right now that we live in. We live in a digital hate tank.’

He went on to praise ‘concerts and sports and movies and places where we gather together’ as places that encourage communities to come together.

Meanwhile, amid the ongoing backlash against wife Blake and himself amid her legal woes, Ryan attempted to somewhat win over fans thanks to an adorable segment with rescue puppies.

The ‘Rescue Dog Rescue’ sees host Stephen and a celebrity guest tell flattering and sometimes exaggerated stories about the pooches in order to encourage adoption.

And while Ryan happily spoke about his own projects and played with cute puppies, no mention was made of his wife’s troubles.

The film star looked a tad tense as he later left the studio, but ensured he happily greeted fans with a friendly wave as he made his way to his car.

While all parties deny the allegations against them, the escalating legal fracas has seen Blake’s name in particular dragged through the mud.

Fans thought her celebrity friends like Taylor Swift would jump to her defence, but the A-lister has had little support, at least publicly.

From historic stories of rudeness and diva behaviour to more recent claims from colleagues that Blake is a nightmare to work with, the allegations go back to the early days of her acting career.

It comes as Justin Baldoni broke his social media silence after a five-month hiatus to share a touching Mother’s Day post, amidst his ongoing legal battle with Blake.

The It Ends With Us actor and director posted a photo with his wife Emily, 40, their two kids, Maiya, nine, and Maxwell, seven, as well as his own mom, Sharon, to Instagram on Sunday.

‘My mom gave us faith. My wife is the definition of it. Our children are growing up in the fortress of that love. Happy Mother’s Day to all ❤️’ he wrote in the caption.

Baldoni and fellow actress Emily have been married since 2013.

The rare post marked a return to social media for Justin, whose last Instagram update — promoting his and Lively’s film — was on December 10, 2024, ten days before Lively’s legal filing.

The legal dispute between Justin and his It Ends With Us co-star began when she sued him for sexual harassment, which he has denied. Their trial is scheduled for March 2026.

The tender image Justin shared on Sunday captured him leaning his head affectionately on his mother, while his wife Emily rested her head gently on his shoulder.

Their son embraced him around the waist, and their daughter sweetly hugged Emily.

The actor, who has been spending time in Hawaii amidst the legal fallout, posed with his family against a beautiful ocean background.

Baldoni was warmly welcomed back to social media by celebrity friends and followers.
