Four episodes into Stick and the conspiring has just begun!
An exclusive clip from the Apple TV+ series shows Pryce Cahill (played by Owen Wilson) in action, working on his plan with Santi (Peter Dager). Pryce is enlisting the help of Zero (Lilli Kay) and Mitts (Marc Maron) to bring his plan to fruition. In the first episode, Pryce, a former pro-golfer who has seen better days, noticed Santi’s exceptional golfing skills. Santi, however, struggles with remaining humble.
Having consistently excelled in his initial professional golf rounds, Pryce is now focused on keeping Santi grounded. Zero, Santi’s new caddy, is tasked with the role of ensuring Santi doesn’t get carried away, make mistakes, and dent his confidence. The cycle repeats itself as Pryce directs Zero to guide Santi effectively.
Pryce expresses his concerns to Zero about Santi’s tendency to make wrong club choices, like opting for a wood instead of an iron. Mitts interrupts, questioning Pryce’s own judgment by labeling the entire plan as a bad choice. “Santi’s going to want to club up. He’s going to want to use a wood when he should be using an iron. Alright, he makes bad choices,” Pryce conveys to Zero, with Mitts chiming in with a sarcastic remark.
Wilson’s character then redirects his energy back to Zero, reminding her that while Santi may be a hard-headed teenage boy who thinks he is god’s gift to earth, she has the ability to get him back on track as he listens to her and trusts her.
“When we need to dial him back in, you’re going to be my mouthpiece, our Cyrano de Bergerac,” Pryce says in the clip.”Another way of saying it is, you’re going to be our Zero-no de Bergerac.”
“No, that’s a rough pun,” Zero responds with a half-smile on her face, “that’s bad.”
At this point, everyone in the show — minus Santi’s mom, Elena (Mariana Treviño) — is in on the undercover plan to nudge Santi in the direction that they want. Really, they’re manipulating him to try and get the biggest prize pots during each competition, hence why Elena is not in on it. Will it work though or will Santi see right through their attempts? We’ll have to see when Episode 5, “The Birdie Machine,” drops on Wednesday.
The first four episodes of Stick are currently streaming on Apple TV+.
