LOS ANGELES — We’ve got a crossover that’s totally out of this world (…galaxy)!
Epic and Disney are joining forces in their most expansive “Star Wars” collaboration in Fortnite to date.
The latest collaboration not only introduces the first Battle Royale Season entirely based on “Star Wars,” but it also marks the debut of a series within the game on Disney+ for the very first time!
The upcoming animated series “Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld” will launch May 2 on Fortnite, two days ahead of its Disney+ launch.
Sean Shoptaw, Executive Vice President of Disney Games & Digital Entertainment, expressed enthusiasm about the launch, stating that it offers fans and players a thrilling glimpse into the types of experiences they can anticipate as they work on shaping a new era together. The aim is to create a future of digital entertainment where fans can engage in playing, watching, creating, and connecting, with endless possibilities waiting to be explored.
Players can watch the first two episodes May 2, beginning at 10 a.m. ET on the “Star Wars” Watch Party island.
“Tales of the Underworld” is a creation of the seasoned Lucasfilm talent Dave Filoni. This anthology series comprises animated shorts that delve into the seedy criminal world of the ‘Star Wars’ universe, focusing on the stories of two iconic villains. The narrative follows former assassin and bounty hunter Asajj Ventress as she embarks on a new journey with an unexpected companion, while notorious outlaw Cad Bane must confront his past as he faces an old friend who is now a Marshal on the opposing side of the law.

Also coming to Fornite May 2 is Fortnite: GALACTIC BATTLE, which “introduces new ‘Star Wars’ content and gameplay to Battle Royale each week. Fans can play as Darth Jar Jar or Emperor Palpatine, while piloting ships like X-wings and TIE Fighters. The season will culminate in an epic in-game live event, Death Star Sabotage.”
