Sunny Hostin made a plea to halt Elon Musk’s efforts to undermine the government in today’s episode of The View. She pointed out that Musk, who was never elected, does not possess the constitutional authority to cut numerous federal programs and jobs.
During a conversation regarding a recent altercation between Musk and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the panel members shared their own interpretations. Ana Navarro proposed that Rubio was facing challenges while working under President Donald Trump and insinuated that Rubio and his team may have leaked the fight incident to the media.
Hostin concurred, suggesting that Rubio finds himself in a challenging situation after relinquishing his Senate position to assume the role of Secretary of State, where he is responsible for implementing policies that he has openly criticized.
“I think that’s probably accurate, because the leaks are coming from somewhere, right, and they have to have come from inside the room,” Hostin said.
She then noted that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is working right alongside Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), and recently gave them access to the child support payment database, meaning DOGE can now see “some of the most important financial, personal information of millions of Americans.”
Hostin proclaimed, “I think we need to really make it clear that Elon Musk is doing all of this illegally and unconstitutionally. He is not the president of the United States, he was not voted to be the president of the United States, he is not a federally elected official of any kind. He’s not a Senate-confirmed officer of the United States, but he has this so-called Department of Government Efficiency, which is not a federal executive department.”
“Everything he does is lawless, it’s unconstitutional and it has to be stopped,” the co-host declared.
Hostin closed out her remarks by mentioning a lawsuit filed by the Campaign Legal Center to stop Musk and DOGE’s ” illegal power grab.”
“They are challenging his right to do anything, and we really need to keep our eye on that particular case,” she said.
