‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’: Sutton Stracke Was Thirsting After Captain Theo, But Did He Ever Text Her Back? Sutton Answers!

For years, Sutton Stracke has been touting Jennifer Tilly as the ideal Housewife. After persistent requests, Stracke’s wish finally materialized when the Chucky actress officially became a “friend of” in Season 14 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

Stracke and Tilly have a longstanding friendship, with Tilly making a brief appearance in the previous season. Following the cancellation of Peacock’s Chucky series earlier this year, Stracke felt that the timing was perfect for Tilly to expand her role on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

In a recent interview with DECIDER, Stracke humorously expressed her delight at having Tilly on board, stating, “She loves the show and it’s just been great to have her on – for me, personally, because I’m so selfish. I liked having her with me as a friend and just getting to spend all that time with her.”

Stracke boasted that Tilly could “do no wrong,” but that wasn’t necessarily true of her other co-stars. The Augusta native got into a heated screaming match with Dorit Kemsley in this week’s episode after calling out Erika Jayne for quietly shading Kemsley right in front of her face. However, the Beverly Beach founder ended up angry with Stracke instead.

“She just was snapping at anything that she could hear,” Stracke said, before adding, “I think there was a miscommunication there, which, you know, I’m sorry for.”

When Stracke popped into DECIDER’s studio this week, she also revealed whether she ever heard from Captain Theo again, and how she felt about Jayne saying she needs to share more about her life. Check out the full interview below.

DECIDER: I want to jump right into tonight’s episode. We all saw Dorit slip Captain Theo your number. Did you guys keep in touch at all after the boat day?

SUTTON STRACKE: Dorit didn’t just give my number. She wrote, like, an essay. So I was like, “Why so much?” He did text me. But I have very sad news. He has a girlfriend.

No!

Yes, it was devastating. But life goes on. I’ll find another captain.

There are plenty of fish in the sea!

Captains on the sea – yes.

On the boat, you and Dorit shared a really nice moment. Were you shocked when she kind of snapped back at you in the sprinter van? Because it seemed like you brought up what Erika said because you were defending Dorit.

Thank you for noticing that. That’s what I was trying to do. I think that at that moment, Dorit was having very selective hearing. She just was snapping at anything that she could hear. And so I think there was a miscommunication there, which, you know, I’m sorry for. But yeah, she snapped pretty quickly. She was on edge. I think it’s a very tense time for Dorit. So, you know, there we go.

I really love to see you and Kyle Richards getting along – and it really does seem like a sisterly friendship. As we see in the trailer, you told Kyle that she needs to file for divorce. Why do you think she hasn’t? And why do you think now is the time?

I can’t answer for Kyle. I don’t know why. I think divorce is hard. I think giving up that dream family life that I think she lived for a very long time is probably just hard to let go. You know, I can’t speak for her.

Before we move on from them, do you think there’s a double standard with Kyle and Dorit? And do you think Dorit’s apology to Kyle in tonight’s episode was genuine?

That argument was so intense. Just to get an apology, I would have taken the apology and ran with it and left the dinner table and said, “Thank you for the apology.” Because I would have wanted the argument to stop. I have apologized to these ladies over and over and over until it finally gets through, or I say it the right way. So, I think we all apologize a number of times until the other person believes you.

Erika recently said in an interview that she would like to see you and Garcelle reveal your lives. But she must’ve forgotten that you literally brought a camera on a first date with you, and that you’ve also shared a lot about your own experience with divorce. What’s your response to that?

I think that I have given a lot of my life up. I’ve  talked about my dad’s suicide openly and actually for the first time ever, I brought it up with Erika – for the first time with a friend, really. And then to bring it to the audience and to join NAMI as an ambassador to help awareness of suicide survivors. So, that’s a big deal for me, to expose that part of my life. I don’t know how much deeper I can go. I can’t film with my children or I couldn’t until they were 18, so I can’t do anything about that. You know, yes, my dating life has been repeatedly shown. The kitty cat sweater has been ridiculed. So, I don’t know. It didn’t bother me. I know that what I do is real and I can only be my authentic self and I think it’s enough for the audience. I think this year, this season, we see a lot more of my private life that I give up. So, you know, okay.

Jennifer Tilly is such an amazing addition to the show, and I know you’ve been putting that into the universe for years now. How did you finally convince her to join the show as part of the cast?

I don’t know if I convinced her because I’ve been begging her to do it. But I think it was the right time for her. The Chucky series had kind of come to an end. Though, I think, hopefully it’s going to get picked up somewhere because it’s so great. So I think it was just the right time and she loves the show and it’s just been great to have her on – for me, personally, because I’m so selfish. I liked having her with me as a friend and just getting to spend all that time with her. She actually said to me, “Sutton, I don’t know how you have been doing this. It’s so hard. It’s harder than television.” And I spent two weeks with her on the set of Chucky and I was like, “How do you do this?” Because the days are so long, it goes until two in the morning. I’m like, “When do we get to go home?” And she was like, “We don’t.” To see both parts with her has been really special for me, both on scripted and then on unscripted television. I love her. She’s great. She can do no wrong. She’s wonderful.

Erika praised Jennifer Tilly’s jewelry collection when we spoke to her earlier this season. Do you agree? Do you have a favorite piece?

She has the most beautiful jewelry collection. Yes, she has one of Elizabeth Taylor’s diamonds. I don’t want to talk about it because I’m like, keep it safe. I just want everything to be so safe. Everything she wears, I love. And if I ever buy jewelry, I get her opinion. Like, is this a good investment piece? Or is it just a fun piece of jewelry? We talk about that a lot. Like, what’s fun and what’s an investment piece. She’s so smart about it. She knows her stuff. She knows what to buy and she buys smart. And it’s just all good. It’s all good. I can’t wait to see what she wears. When we go to lunch or dinner, I’m like, “I know she’s gonna have something great on.” And she pulls it from the fault. She’s such a fun friend to have.

It seems like it! In the episode, we learn two things about Kathy Hilton: she polishes her teeth with eyeshadow brushes and she keeps her nudes locked in a safe in the bank. Are there any other things about Kathy that we’d be surprised to hear?

[Laughs] I don’t think so. Kathy, really, she relaxes on camera. She doesn’t care. And she’s just really herself. I’ve spent a lot of time with Kathy. She came to my house in Augusta for The Masters tournament. And so I got to really live with her there. And she is totally herself. Even then, with all of my friends in Augusta. She’s just herself. She has no pretense and she’s lovely to be with.

I thought you had great intentions behind your ceremony of sisterhood. How is the group doing currently? Would you say things are better or worse than before that dinner?

I think the group as a whole is – we’re good. You know, we always try to end the season in a positive way. Sometimes we do that, sometimes we don’t. I think there’s fractions within the group, still. But collectively, as a whole, I think we did pretty well. We came out of the season happy, I think, with a few minor distractions within the group. But I think we’re okay.

I know we are only four episodes in, but what is something you’re hoping to address at the reunion?

Gosh. I mean, talking about the reunion gives me, like, PTSD. I don’t want to faint on this sofa. I think it’s going to be interesting to see what comes out. We watch the season with everybody else. We know what’s happened but we don’t know how it’s put together. And editing is so amazing that they can take 100 hours and turn it into 18 episodes. So, we’ll see. It’s always interesting to see what the women are saying behind your back in their confessionals or in a lunch with someone else. It’s always sort of like, “[Gasp], I can’t believe you said that about me.” And that’s where I think the discourse comes in the reunion.

Is there anything that’s been said so far this season that has made you turn your head?

And then there’s the After Show. Boz [Saint John] and Dorit really unleashed on my dress from my party. I was like, “That was an amazing dress, by the way.” And they really picked on it. So, I might have to scold them for that.

What else can you tease about the rest of the season?

There are a few moments that I will not want to probably see. You know, I can sometimes be a little terse. And get my foot in my mouth and then it doesn’t come out. for a while. But, yeah, there’s a couple of those. I think that there’s so many fun moments in this season. I am really looking forward – we go to Augusta and I take Garcelle and Kyle with me. That’s going to be a really, really special part of the season for me. [We] see my mother and go to my house. I love Augusta so much so I’m really looking forward to that one.

That’s exciting.

It is exciting and that’s where you really get to see me in my environment. And so I’m looking forward to that one.
