Taylor Swift reacts to Travis Kelce's Donald Trump comments as fans rage at Chiefs star for not defending singer

Sources reveal that Taylor Swift is not upset with her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, for referring to it as a privilege to have Donald Trump at the Super Bowl on Sunday. Reports indicate that there has been no argument between the couple regarding the comments made by the Kansas City Chiefs star.

It is widely acknowledged that Swift and Trump have a history of animosity towards each other, with the 78-year-old president openly stating his dislike for the singer.

The president’s strong statement came after the singer publicly showed support for Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential race, emphasizing the importance of having a leader who prioritizes tranquility over chaos for the nation’s progress.

Die-hard fans, known as the Swifties, were left unimpressed by Kelce’s comments, with many flocking to social media to express their disappointment and annoyance that he would speak positively about someone who had disrespected his partner.

Though fans have been left furious, sources have revealed that Swift took no issue with her boyfriend’s comments.

‘Taylor is not angry at Travis for what he said,’ a source exclusively revealed to DailyMail.com. ‘Although Travis’s quote was taken as he supports Trump, this is not what Travis said at all.’

During a press conference, Kelce welcomed Trump to the game

During a press conference, Kelce welcomed Trump to the game by saying: ‘It’s awesome. It’s a great honor, I think, no matter who the President is ‘

During a press conference ahead of the Super Bowl, Kelce was asked for his thoughts about the president’s decision to attend the game in New Orleans.

‘It’s awesome. It’s a great honor, I think, no matter who the president is,’ the celebrated tight end responded. ‘I’m excited because it’s the biggest game of my life and having the president there — it’s the best country in the world — and that’s pretty cool.’

The insider continued: ‘He never actually even said the word Trump. Travis was speaking on behalf of his entire team and all of his fans when he said it is an honor to have the President of the United States at the game and he would have said the same thing regardless of who the president was.’

The source added: ‘So no, there is no fight, no argument and no blowout over this. Taylor is just so proud of Travis and cannot wait to be there to support him.

‘Cheering him on has become so exciting for her. Taylor is Travis’ biggest cheerleader.’

Though Swift hasn’t taken offense, her fans were quick to voice their disappointment that Kelce didn’t say something that showed more support for his girlfriend.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, one fan wrote: ‘If my boyfriend says its a great honor to have the man that slanders me constantly I would break up with him immediately.’

Another stated: ‘No Travis it’s not awesome or an honor for that man to be there. His whole answer was just… yikes.’

‘This is disappointing,’ one fan lamented. ‘[Trump] has publicly insulted your girlfriend multiple times.’

One X user stated: ‘Travis deserves any backlash he gets for that Trump answer idgaf.’

‘He literally talked s**t about his girlfriend and he’s honored?????’ one shocked fan asked, while another simply said: ‘Travis Kelce is spineless, my goodness.’

Elsewhere, TikTok users shared similar sentiments, as one wrote: ‘Yeah, honestly, I like him less now I get it. He’s trying to be diplomatic, but no that’s not it.’

Another added: ‘I love how people say, oh he’s being professional but those same people don’t hold the president to that same standard of professionalism and class.’

‘Wow, just wow! He has this huge platform and an opportunity to make his voice heard and THAT’S what he says?? Such a disappointment!’ someone else wrote.

However, a second insider shed light on the reason behind Kelce’s answer as they revealed: ‘Travis answered the way he did because some of his teammates and friends support Trump, and even though he has attacked Taylor in the past, he doesn’t want to get embroiled in a controversy that she gets sucked into, which would have happened if he’d said something derogatory.’

‘He just wants to get to the game, win and move forward without any craziness.’

Over the years, Swift has made her feelings about Trump clear.

In her 2020 Miss Americana documentary, she publicly denounced the real estate mogul and expressed her regret for not speaking out about him sooner.

When warned by business partners that opposing him could cost her ‘half’ of her fanbase, she hit back: ‘I don’t care if they write that. I need to be on the right side of history.’

She then took a direct shot at Trump on social media, declaring in May 2020, that ‘we will vote you out in November.’

In September 2024, the hitmaker confirmed her stance had not changed when she shared an Instagram post endorsing former Vice President Kamala Harris.

She explained: ‘Like many of you, I watched the debate tonight. If you haven’t already, now is a great time to do your research on the issues at hand and the stances these candidates take on the topics that matter to you the most. As a voter, I make sure to watch and read everything I can about their proposed policies and plans for this country.

‘Recently I was made aware that AI of ‘me’ falsely endorsing Donald Trump’s presidential run was posted to his site. It really conjured up my fears around AI, and the dangers of spreading misinformation. It brought me to the conclusion that I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election as a voter. The simplest way to combat misinformation is with the truth.

‘I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election. I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos. I was so heartened and impressed by her selection of running mate @timwalz, who has been standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body for decades.’

She continued: ‘I’ve done my research, and I’ve made my choice. Your research is all yours to do, and the choice is yours to make…

‘With love and hope, Taylor Swift. Childless Cat Lady.’
