If you care about preserving the Second Amendment, what just happened in Colorado needs to be on your radar.
On Thursday, Governor Jared Polis signed a law prohibiting the production and most sales of semi-automatic firearms with detachable magazines. This legislation extends beyond semi-automatic rifles like the AR-15 to essentially render all modern-day handguns illegal as well.

To label this action as blatantly unconstitutional would be an understatement. According to the Supreme Court’s ruling in District of Columbia vs. Heller, firearms that are commonly used are protected under the Second Amendment for “traditionally lawful purposes,” including self-defense. Semi-automatic handguns and rifles with detachable magazines are among the most widely used firearms in the United States. Therefore, it is indisputable that this gun control law contradicts established Supreme Court decisions. By signing this legislation, Polis has endorsed something that he undoubtedly recognizes as illegal, heightening the severity of this move.
The stakes here could not be higher. If Colorado gets away with this, you can kiss the Second Amendment goodbye. If a state gets away with largely banning semi-automatic handguns, it can get away with banning any type of firearm. This is the most radical gun control legislation to ever be signed, and it must be fiercely opposed.
