Whoopi Goldberg issued a reminder to Elon Musk on this morning’s episode of The View: He was never on the ballot in 2024.
The discussion on Wednesday’s episode began with the ladies talking about Elon Musk’s Oval Office press conference on Feb. 11. He was defending the massive cuts he made to federal agencies with his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) initiative.
Goldberg pointed out that Musk’s companies, Space X and Tesla, had received federal contracts worth at least $18 billion in the past decade. She also highlighted that since the president’s election, Musk’s net worth had increased by $64 billion, nearly a 25% rise.
She then proposed, “So yeah, I’m going to say: You want to cut something? Cut some of the stuff you’re taking out.”
Goldberg’s comments resonated with the audience, who enthusiastically applauded her remarks. After the clapping subsided, Goldberg emphasized, “I understand the need to cut unnecessary expenses, but what you’re doing goes beyond just trimming the fat.”
She then reminded Musk, “Nobody elected you. That’s the part, that’s the part.”
When it was time for Alyssa Farah Griffin to give her take, she suggested Musk is in the Oval Office for a very clear reason.
“I do want to note one thing, ’cause some people are like,’Elon’s actually in charge, it’s not Trump,’” Griffin said. “I actually think that Trump is doing something strategic by having Elon own this, because it’s going to get less and less popular when people see that things they like are being taken away, and he’s gonna blame Elon.”
She also predicted trouble in paradise for President Donald Trump and Musk, telling the panel, “This relationship isn’t gonna last.”
The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
