Tim Walz: Republicans Are Terrified of My Masculinity, and I Can Beat Up Trump Supporters

Tim Walz’s behavior seems to be getting more peculiar. After failing as Kamala Harris’ running mate, the Minnesota governor is now trying to raise his profile for a potential 2028 presidential bid by attending rallies and engaging with the media.

How’s that going? Not well, Bob.

Some view Walz as a politician designed by DNC Vice Chair David Hogg to be the epitome of unpopularity. This is quite a bold claim considering Harris’ looming candidacy for Governor of California, a tough act to follow. Nevertheless, Walz appears to struggle to connect with anyone beyond a niche audience of urban leftists, all while seemingly unaware of his own social awkwardness.

Walz’s odd behavior was on display in a recent interview with Gavin Newsom, who has apparently taken up podcasting as a hobby instead of focusing on his gubernatorial responsibilities. In one instance, Walz made a boastful comment about being able to best most Trump supporters, showcasing his disconnect from broader political sentiments.

A fair warning that the sheer level of overcompensation you are about to see is jarring.

WALZ: How do you fight it?

NEWSOM: Well, this notion of…

WALZ: I think I could kick most of their ***, I do think that. I know I can throw them, but I don’t know if we’re going to fall into that place where we want to, okay, we challenge you to a, you know, a WWE type of thing here.

Could you, though, Tim? Could you? What an odd little guy this dude is. I’d love to find out what political consultants are making bank advising Walz because a grift that good deserves recognition. As with when Joe Biden repeatedly did it, it should be noted that when you have to go around threatening to beat people up as a politician, you end up looking weak and pathetic. Keep in mind that Walz is the same guy who was too much of a coward to deploy with his unit while serving in the Minnesota National Guard and then spent years stealing valor by falsely insinuating he served in a warzone.

Still, the governor wants everyone to know that Republicans are terrified of his self-promoted masculinity.

NEWSOM: But I think this notion, this notion of toxicity in masculinity needs to be separated, and I think it’s been conflated, and I think we’re gonna have to work on that a little bit. There is a crisis of men…

WALZ: I think some of us scare them. I think I scare them a little bit, is why they spend so much time on me. No, I’m serious because I can fix a truck, they know I’m not b************ on this. And I’m not putting this in people’s grill. I don’t know if…my identity is not hunting. My identity is not football coaching. My identity is not, you know, a beard and a truck…

“I’m not putting this in peoples’ grill,” says Walz as he once again publicly tells people how absolutely, totally masculine he is. He can even fix a truck! And sure, he spent the 2024 campaign pretending to be a hunter (while getting caught on camera not even knowing how to operate a shotgun) and a world-class football coach, but he’s not trying to signal anything to you. It’s all organic, you see.

And just to make sure you understand that he’s masculine and not trying to overcompensate, Walz told Newsom again how masculine he is.

WALZ: It just baffled me how much time they spent trying to attack me that I wasn’t masculine enough in their vision. Like, I would have never believed this. I saw Fox News did a couple days because I used a straw. I’m like, “Hell, what am I…how else do you drink a milkshake type of thing.” But they focused on it obsessively, which I think, again, is their obsession, their weirdness. We buy their frame on these issues of sexuality.

Yes, please double down on trying to call Republicans Weird. I’m sure that’ll work out brilliantly for you the next go around.

Honestly, my reaction to all this is that I’m baffled that this guy thinks he’s a viable presidential candidate. Politicians should have some level of self-awareness when it comes to this stuff. Clearly, Kamala Harris didn’t, and we see how that ended for her. Walz is not him. He is not the guy to lead a Democratic Party revival, but if he wants to pretend he is, that’s a very good thing for Republicans. It’s also good for conservative commentators who need material so keep it up, Tim.
