Todd and Julie Chrisley Break Silence After Trump Pardons: “God Touched President Trump’s Heart”

Todd and Julie Chrisley are no longer behind bars — and they’re crediting both divine intervention and Donald Trump for their early release.

The former stars of Chrisley Knows Best recently sat down with Lara Trump from Fox News for their first interview since receiving presidential pardons. Lara Trump, who is also President Trump’s daughter-in-law, discussed with them their convictions, faith, and future plans.

Todd expressed his gratitude towards God during the emotional interview, stating, “We owe thanks to God… and God touched President Trump’s heart. God led the people to advocate for us. And so I’m grateful, because every night I would pray that God would return me home to my wife and my children. And he did that, so I’m grateful.”

Julie, who had been serving a seven-year sentence, while Todd faced a 12-year sentence, shared how she found out about their pardons through their daughter, Savannah Chrisley, who had been actively working to secure their release.

“She said, ‘He did it! He signed it!’ And I just started busting out crying,” Julie shared, adding that she immediately hung up the phone and told those around her, “I’m getting out of here!”

Todd recounted a surreal moment when another inmate told him he’d been pardoned — a claim he initially brushed off until a prison officer came to confirm it.

“He goes, ‘Are you good?’ And I said, ‘As good as I can be,’” Todd said. “And he says, ‘Todd, you just got pardoned. They sent me down here to make sure you’re OK.’ And I said, ‘Well they don’t need to be worrying about me now. Hell, if I’m pardoned, I’m great!’”

The couple was convicted in 2022 of fraud, conspiracy to defraud the United States, and tax evasion. Prosecutors alleged they defrauded banks out of $36 million before their rise to reality-TV stardom and used the funds to bankroll their opulent lifestyle.

Despite portraying themselves as devout, hardworking entrepreneurs on their hit USA Network show — which ran for 10 seasons starting in 2014 — the Chrisleys were cast by the Justice Department in a far different light.

Their lawyer, Alex Little, told The Hill that the couple submitted their pardon request earlier this year after Trump returned to office. He also confirmed they never sought clemency from President Joe Biden, claiming the Chrisleys were targeted by a “weaponized Biden Justice Department.”

As for what’s next? Little hinted that the Chrisleys may return to television eventually: “Right now, their focus is reuniting as a family and spending family time together. They are both people who have always been in the public eye, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they continue to do that.”
