A 7-year-old Nevada girl died after being struck by a falling boulder at a ski resort on Saturday, officials said.
Adelyn Grimes, who hailed from Reno, Nevada, was formally identified by the Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office following an incident at Diamond Peak Ski Resort in Incline Village, which is located just a few miles away from Lake Tahoe.
Sabina Grimes, Adelyn’s aunt, expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss in a statement shared on a GoFundMe page, emphasizing that the sudden passing of a child is an incomprehensible tragedy that no one can ever be prepared for. She also mentioned the tremendous grieving of Adelyn’s parents over the heartbreaking loss of their beloved daughter.
They noted that they believe that there is no foul play involved.
