President-elect Donald Trump slammed the New Orleans terror attack as a ‘pure act of evil’ and said an illegal migrant is to blame.
According to sources speaking to Fox News, the individual responsible for the deaths of a minimum of 10 people and the injuring of more than 30 attendees at a New Orleans gathering reportedly drove his vehicle across the border via Eagle Pass, Texas.
The citizenship status of the individual has not yet been confirmed, according to the report.
‘I previously mentioned that the delinquents entering the country are of a more severe nature compared to the delinquents already present within our nation. Although Democrats and the media dismissed my statement, it has been proven to be accurate,’ Trump shared on Truth Social.
‘The current crime levels in our nation have reached unprecedented heights. Our thoughts are with all the blameless victims and their families, as well as with the courageous members of the New Orleans Police Department.’
‘The Trump Administration will fully support the City of New Orleans as they investigate and recover from this act of pure evil!’
Meanwhile, President Joe Biden is being criticized for his ‘tone deaf’ response after the overnight tragedy.
Biden’s first post on X in 2025 was a simple ‘Happy New Year, folks’ at 10am ET.
That’s hours after the alleged attacker plowed into a joyous crowd on Bourbon Street around 3am local time.

Over an hour after his New Year’s post on X, Biden issued a formal statement condemning the ‘act of terrorism’ and sending condolences to the victims’ families.
Furious social media users immediately pointed out his ‘heartless’ blunder, calling it out of touch and insensitive.
‘Joe Biden is a heartless pos,’ wrote one user. ‘People lost their lives in a terror attack, and he just tweeted ‘Happy New Year, Folks.’ Jan 20th can’t come fast enough.’
Another wrote in disbelief: ‘This is President Joe Biden’s first post of the day. No mention of New Orleans or the victims. [Shaking my head].’
‘It’s utterly clumsy and tone deaf,’ user @LetsGetRandy chimed in.
The president had not directly addressed the deadly incident before making the celebratory New Year’s post.
Instead, the White House issued a statement saying he spoke with New Orleans’ Democratic mayor LaToya Cantrell on Wednesday morning to offer ‘full federal support.’

The FBI is leading the investigation into the ‘horrific’ tragedy and is working closely with local and state officials.
Speaker Mike Johnson, who represents a district in Louisiana, condemned the ‘vicious attack.’
‘The vicious attack on innocent people celebrating the New Year in New Orleans early this morning was an act of pure evil, and justice must be swift for anyone who was involved,’ he wrote on X.
‘Please join us in praying for the victims, their families, and the first responders and investigators on the scene.’

In contrast, Attorney General Merrick Garland quickly issued a statement saying the country ‘woke up this morning to news of a terrible tragedy in New Orleans that killed at least 10 people and injured many more.’
‘My heart is broken for those who began their year by learning people they love were killed in this horrific attack, and my prayers are with the dozens who were injured, including the New Orleans Police Department Officers who risked their lives to save others.’
He said the FBI continues to investigate with assistance from the ATF and DOJ’s National Security Division, along with the local U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Louisiana.
The president is heading from Wilmington, Delaware, where he spent New Year’s Eve, to Camp David, for what could be one of his final trips there with just 19 days left of his presidency.

Police returned fire after the individual opened fire on the crowd.
Videos circulated on social media from the scene showing multiple casualties on the ground as shots rang out in the background and people were seen fleeing the area.
The vehicle plowed into the crowd at the intersection of Bourbon Street and Canal Street around 3:15 a.m. local time on Wednesday morning, city officials confirmed.
The city of New Orleans divulged that wounded were transported to five different area hospitals in the wake of the ‘mass casualty event.’
No information about the suspect has been released so far and it is unclear if any arrests have been made or if police fire made contact with the individual.
But a federal law enforcement official told NBC News that the suspect is believed to be dead.
