President Donald Trump claimed on Tuesday that if it were not for him, Russia would have faced severe consequences, cautioning Russian President Vladimir Putin that he is “playing with fire.”
In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated, “What Vladimir Putin doesn’t realize is that if it weren’t for me, lots of really bad things would have already happened to Russia, and I mean REALLY BAD. He’s playing with fire!”
The statement prompted a response from Dmitry Medvedev, the deputy chairman of the Security Council of Russia and former Russian president, in a separate social media post on the same day.
“Regarding Trump’s words about Putin ‘playing with fire’ and ‘really bad things’ happening to Russia. I only know of one REALLY BAD thing — WWIII. I hope Trump understands this!” Medvedev wrote.
“Like any criminal, Russia can only be constrained by force. Only through strength — the strength of the United States, of Europe, of all nations that value life — can these attacks be stopped and real peace achieved,” Zelenskyy declared in the post.
