In recent news this Sunday, President Trump has decided to place thousands of employees from the embattled and reportedly corrupt USAID agency on leave. This decision comes after a federal judge lifted a previous ruling that had prevented the administration from taking this action.
Now Trump has brought down the hammer:
The Trump administration has intensified its efforts to reduce the workforce at the U.S. Agency for International Development by terminating 2,000 employees and sending most other staff members on leave.
Following the federal judge’s ruling on Friday, the administration is now able to proceed with its plan to remove numerous USAID employees from their positions both domestically and overseas.
U.S. District Judge Carl Nichols rejected pleas that came in a lawsuit from employees to keep temporarily blocking the government´s plan.
‘As of 11:59 p.m. EST on Sunday, February 23, 2025, all USAID direct hire personnel, with the exception of designated personnel responsible for mission-critical functions, core leadership and/or specially designated programs, will be placed on administrative leave globally,’ according to the notices sent to USAID workers and viewed by The Associated Press.
To the 2,000 USAID employees getting released today, I’m sure there’s lots of other leftwing NGOs you can find gainful employment at.
Oh wait, we’re defunding those too. pic.twitter.com/ZOFAideT5S

Normally, you might feel bad for people who have just lost their jobs, but Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency have uncovered such a stunning level of waste and misplaced priorities that it’s hard to work up an ounce of sympathy for anyone associated with the place.
