The Department of Homeland Security reported that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detained a previously deported individual from Mexico for throwing a Molotov cocktail at law enforcement during the riots in Los Angeles on June 7.
Los Angeles witnessed a series of disturbances, including setting vehicles on fire, assaulting police officers with bricks and fireworks, vandalizing property, looting stores, and breaking windows at the LAPD headquarters downtown. These activities were a reaction to recent ICE operations in the city.
Emiliano Garduno-Galvez is charged with attempted murder after throwing the Molotov cocktail.
In response to the incident, DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin stated that the individual in question, Emiliano Garduno-Galvez, is an illegal immigrant from Mexico with a criminal background, who endangered the lives of law enforcement officers by attacking them with a Molotov cocktail during the violent protests in Los Angeles. Garduno-Galvez was apprehended by ICE and is facing charges of attempted murder. McLaughlin emphasized that people like Garduno-Galvez, criminal illegal immigrants, are being defended by the rioters.

DHS listed more information about 19 suspects who ICE Los Angeles arrested on June 7 who are accused of crimes ranging from robbery to second-degree murder to rape.
“America’s brave ICE officers are removing the worst of the worst from LA’s streets, while LA’s leaders are working tirelessly against them,” DHS said in a Sunday statement as riots continued through the weekend.
