FEMAIL reached out to hairstylists to find out how the 54-year-old Slovenian-American has been changing up her beauty look in recent days. Â
Hairstylist and founder of luxury wig brand Wigonia Julia North, based in London, told DailyMail.com, ‘Looking at that specific photo, yes, those appear to be tape-in or beaded-row extensions.’Â
‘You can spot the telltale signs where the natural hair meets the extension pieces, particularly visible in the mid-sections,’ Julia, who spent 15 years as a hair stylist and specialized in extensions, revealed.Â

Melania, shown above in August 2020 with her son Barron Trump, appears to have thinner hair than in other photographsÂ
‘I’d say she’s likely wearing premium quality, European human hair extensions, probably 18 to 20 inches in length,’ Julia divulged.Â
Julia thinks the the installation appears to be a combination method or a ‘hybrid system,’ done using both tape-ins for volume and individual beaded rows for length.
Saraphine Nurse, UNice hairstylist and extensions specialist, agreed that in the photo, ‘the fullness and texture at the ends are often signs of added volume or length’ and believes that it could be ‘clip-ins or tape-ins for a seamless look.’
‘This is actually a very common choice for public figures because it allows for versatile styling while maintaining natural movement,’ Julia explained.Â
Despite the Ohio senator seemingly revealing the telltale signs of Melania’s extensions, in general, they’re quite camouflaged. Â
‘The color work is excellent though – they’re perfectly matched to her natural shade, which is crucial for seamless blending,’ Julia complimented.Â
However, it doesn’t look like the extensions are permanent, as Melania has shown off different hair lengths throughout her recent time back in the public eye. Â
‘What’s interesting is that in different public appearances, you can see varying degrees of volume and length, which suggests she likely alternates between different extension sets depending on the event and styling needs,’ Julia agreed.Â

Melania isn’t the only celebrity who opts for extensions to add volume depending on the event and type of styling
Melania isn’t the only celebrity who opts for extensions to add volume depending on the event and type of styling.Â
‘This is a smart approach that many high-profile clients use to protect their natural hair while maintaining their signature look,’ Julia explained.Â
Celebrity stylist Mia Santiago, based in New York City, agreed and told DailyMail.com that these are ‘absolutely’ extensions.Â
‘Beyond being able to see what looks like a tape-in in her hair, you can tell by the curl pattern,’ Mia said. ‘Extensions can hold curl more tightly than finer hair, so you can see where the real hair is less wavy and the extensions have more curl. That’s always a tell.’
While Mia isn’t sure if Melania wears them all time, she joked, ‘If I were a betting babe, I’d put my money all in.’Â
Melania is famously focused on her hair and even visited the pricey John Frieda Salon in New York City during the feud between her husband and the FBI in 2022.Â
