Understanding the Rationality of the Biden Crime Network

Speculating based on this column and the scandal, many unbiased observers were astonished by the level of corruption displayed by the Biden Crime Syndicate in the past ten years. There was widespread bewilderment over how Joe Biden believed he could evade the scrutiny surrounding this blatant corruption.

My belief is that Joe Biden had a calculated thought process (and indeed, there was a thought process – the scandalous activities supposedly began in 2014, before Joe Biden’s mental faculties deteriorated fully).

In 2008, Barack Obama narrowly defeated Hillary Clinton for the Democratic presidential nomination. Each candidate had their own support base, and tensions between them could have jeopardized Obama’s campaign. Democrats feared that disgruntled Clinton supporters might defect and vote for the Republican nominee, John McCain. Democrats were particularly concerned about this possible scenario.

And it was not an idle threat; my mother did just that.    

So, I believe Barack Obama made a deal with the Clintons. The Clintons would unite around his 2008 candidacy, and he, in return, would appoint Hillary Clinton as his Secretary of State, and, at the end of his tenure in the White House, he would back her when she ran again for president in 2016.  

Of course, this meant that Obama’s vice president, Joe Biden, was going to be left out in the cold. This was not a positive thing for Biden. He had wanted to be president since at least 1987, and he had run twice before, in 1987 and in 2007-2008, both times doing poorly. Unfortunately for him, there was no way Joe Biden, whom few respected in his own party, would be able to challenge both the Obama and the Clinton factions.  

Contrary to the official story, I don’t believe that Beau Biden’s death would normally have kept Joe Biden from running. Not the Joe Biden who had run so often before. And the Joe Biden who had already stayed in politics previously, under even more terrible circumstances, when his first wife and his daughter died in a car accident, which injured his sons as well. (In fact, there isn’t anything unusual about that; personal tragedy often prompts a person to bury themselves in their job rather than to flee from it.)  

This is why, I believe, Biden decided to use his high office to (allegedly) cash in. He knew that the Clintons themselves were known for their constant schemes. Over the years, the Clinton Foundation had raised hundreds of millions of dollars in a pay-to-play scam that (allegedy) served as a way for donors to curry favor with then-Secretary of State and future President Hillary Clinton. There was no reason at all that Vice President Joe Biden couldn’t do the same.

Indeed, Joe’s younger brother, Jim, had already started the process by becoming a lobbyist. He was well-known on the Hill – I was aware of him – as mooching off his older brother, who, let’s not forget, was a long-time U.S. Senator from Delaware with a lot of financial influence before moving on to be vice president.

Jim Biden, and Joe’s ne’er do well younger son, Hunter, just took things up a notch with their future endeavors. Usually, how things worked on the Hill, a lobbyist did not actually promise quid pro quos. A normal lobbyist instead just promised access to the politician and to that politician’s staff. Just a hearing and consideration by a decision maker. Actual quid pro quos – a favor or advantage granted or expected in return for something – are illegal.  

But Joe Biden, Jim, and Hunter figured that there would be no one to stop them or to punish them. They knew that President Barack Obama was not going to do so. And, in 2016, Obama was going to hand things over to Hillary Clinton, who had done the exact same thing and, therefore, certainly wouldn’t have the Department of Justice investigate or prosecute them. (Perhaps an actual promise was given by Hillary to Joe?)

In fact, the Democrats were especially giddy at that point, as they really believed the conventional wisdom that the GOP would not be winning the presidency for quite some time again. So, the Bidens figured that the Biden Crime Syndicate would be safe for all time. Certainly, they knew that the brash New York celebrity and billionaire named Donald Trump was not going to be the next president and interrupt their scheme.

It just turned out that what they thought they knew was all wrong.
