In this election, we observed a noticeable change in some traditionally Democratic areas towards the Republicans and the President-elect Donald Trump.
We saw it in places like New York and New Jersey, generally thought to be deep blue areas.
Interestingly, there is a surprising increase in support for Trump in Chicago, which may seem unexpected. This shift has been developing gradually and can be attributed to various factors, including the city’s poor handling of illegal immigration issues.
The city’s provision of services for undocumented immigrants has contributed to its financial challenges, prompting discussions of potentially hiking property taxes for its residents.
The criticism surrounding Johnson and Chicago’s New Arrivals Mission – which so far has cost the city $574.5 million since its inception in August 2022 – comes as the mayor is trying to overcome a $1 billion budget shortfall by the end of the year. The City Council held a meeting Monday during which residents voiced their opposition to an approximately $60 million property tax increase floated as one way to help close the gap.
They wanted a $300 million increase originally, but that wasn’t going to fly.

They just keep wanting to spend and demand more revenue from the taxpayers.
Residents let the mayor have it. Some were wearing shirts that said, “Chicago flips red.”

“I got a great way what we can do with this budget. First, let’s start with cutting off illegals getting free everything, free housing, free schooling, free food. Yeah, let’s start with that. That’ll save us a lot of money,” one woman told Johnson.
“Let’s start there. Then, let’s start with you. Your salary. You are going down in history as the worst mayor in America. Let’s start with cutting yours. You making too much money,” she continued.
That resident then ripped the Democrat politicians for calling for “defund the police” but then having their own police details. She said put them in the neighborhoods of the residents who needed them.
She concluded by promising them that if they voted for a property tax hike, they would vote them out: “You all will not be in those seats.”
The residents then reminded the mayor that President-elect Donald Trump and his team were going to be coming in and dealing with the problem if the city didn’t get its act together or if they got in the way of removing illegal aliens. One resident said first there’s going to be an audit, then an investigation, then a conviction.

Another thanked the city council for shutting down the property tax increases and excoriated the mayor, who she said was “embarrassing us.” She thanked them for taking them out of the business of prioritizing illegal aliens over American citizens.
One resident called out the politicians who claimed they were willing to go to jail to stand in the way, calling on “Trump, Tom Homan” to address them first. Her mic was cut off right as she used language on Johnson and called for a forensic audit.
Warning for graphic language:

The resident said the residents were going to “make them famous” and then shouted, “Flip Chicago red!”
I think the residents just succeeded in “making them famous” and helping to make the whole country more aware of their fight and their concerns.
