Former FBI Director James Comey caused controversy last week with a social media post featuring a photo of seashells arranged to spell out “86 47” on the beach. Many believed this to be a veiled threat aimed at President Donald Trump.
Comey later removed the post, insisting that it was not meant to be violent. Despite his role as a former FBI Director, he claimed ignorance regarding the significance of the expression. Nevertheless, the Secret Service did address the matter with him.
During an appearance on MSNBC with Nicolle Wallace, Comey provided a peculiar and convoluted explanation, praising the supposed cleverness and artistic quality of the shell arrangement. He expressed no remorse for the post, maintaining that he saw it as harmless. Comey has a pattern of discovering shells bearing political messages on the beach, such as one advocating for Kamala Harris before the election.
Comey attacked Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard on MSNBC for saying he should be arrested for what he had posted. He moaned like he was being set upon for “walking on the beach with his wife,” as though he were the victim in this.Â
