WAUKEGAN, Ill. (WLS) — The Waukegan Park District will be giving away five $1,000 scholarships to local students.
The Waukegan Park District Memorial Endowment Fund Scholarship is for students who have excelled academically and shown dedication to serving their community.
To be eligible for this scholarship, candidates must fulfill the following criteria:
– Reside within the Waukegan Park District boundaries.
– Plan to enroll in a college, university, or trade school in the fall of 2025.
– Have a focus on a field related to parks and recreation, such as accounting, business, carpentry, communications, electricity, environmental science, exercise sports science, forestry, graphic design, horticulture, human resources, landscape architecture, marketing, mechanics, occupational safety, therapeutic recreation, or tourism development.
To apply, students must submit the following:
– Official transcripts from their most recent academic institution.
– A detailed resume showcasing their work and volunteer experiences.
– A personal essay discussing their involvement in parks and recreation and how they plan to leverage their education to contribute to the community.
– A recommendation letter from a person familiar with the candidate’s future objectives and capabilities.
Applications are due by April 21, 2025 at 8 a.m.
