The return of a new week is always challenging, but ever since NBC’s popular series, Brilliant Minds, premiered in September, loyal fans of Michael Grassi’s adored medical drama have had fresh hour-long episodes to anticipate every Monday night.
Regrettably, this week viewers tuning in to NBC will not find a new episode of the beloved series starring Zachary Quinto. Wondering why? Well, following the airing of Season 1, Episode 11, titled “The Other Woman,” on December 9, the show entered into its winter break, putting a pause on the excitement.
The wait continues as we look forward to the new year to uncover the resolution of the suspenseful cliffhanger and reconnect with Dr. Oliver Wolf (played by Quinto), Dr. Carol Pierce (portrayed by Tamberla Perry), Dr. Josh Nichols (enacted by Teddy Sears), and the rest of the Neurology Department at Bronx General Hospital.
Curious when Brilliant Minds returns with new episodes? Wondering how to watch new and existing episodes live or online? Or how many episodes are in Brilliant Minds Season 1? We’ve got you covered.
Here’s everything to know about Brilliant Minds‘ return date, time, streaming info, and more. And be sure to read Decider’s interviews with showrunner Michael Grassi and stars Tamberla Perry and Zachary Quinto for more insight into the series.
Sadly, no. A new episode of Brilliant Minds won’t be airing on Monday, December 16. Instead, NBC’s schedule has Michael Buble’s Christmas in the City special airing in the 10:00 p.m. ET slot. ‘Tis the season!
As noted, after Episode 11 aired on December 9, Brilliant Minds went on hiatus for several weeks. The series will return with Episode 12, “The Doctor Whose World Collapsed,” on Monday, January 6, 2025 on NBC.
Per NBC, Episode 12 will pick up right where Episode 11 left off — with Dr. Ericka Kinney’s (Ashleigh LaThrop) fate in question after getting trapped in the elevator of her apartment building.
“Ericka’s been, in my mind, the leader of the interns all season. And she’s sort of really stepped up as a friend, as a support system,” Grassi told NBC Insider. “She is so by the books and Type A. And I feel like all of our interns this season have been tested in different ways by patience or experiences… And Ericka’s I felt been a real anchor to all of them. And I think we’’’ve been building to Ericka’s test in a weird way. Putting her in a position where she is scared for her own life, [and] at the same time has to step up and be a doctor for somebody else who’s in danger. And you really feel like everything that she’s learned all season long is put into this sequence, which is harrowing, in the elevator and also really holds up a mirror to herself.”
When Brilliant Minds returns on Monday, January 6, 2024, it will air in its typical time slot at 10:00 p.m. ET on NBC.
Brilliant Minds Season 1 will consist of 13 episodes, which means when the show returns in January, only two episodes remain.
