Hollywood continues to benefit from the steady supply of horror stories from the master of the genre, Stephen King. The latest addition is the horror film adaptation of King’s story, The Monkey, which will be available on digital platforms starting tomorrow. If you didn’t catch it in theaters, now’s your opportunity.
The movie, titled The Monkey, is both written and directed by Osgood Perkins. It is based on a short story penned by Stephen King in 1980 that shares the same title. The plot revolves around twin brothers who stumble upon their father’s ancient and eerie toy monkey in the attic. Soon after, they find themselves witnessing terrifying deaths. As they grow older, they go their separate ways in an attempt to escape the haunting memories. However, the past has a way of catching up with you.
Theo James takes on the roles of both twin brothers in this chilling tale. The film also features a talented supporting cast including Tatiana Maslany, Christian Convery, Colin O’Brien, Rohan Campbell, Sarah Levy, Adam Scott, and Elijah Wood. If I had a say, that spooky monkey would be going up in flames, pronto!

The Monkey is expected to be released on premium video-on-demand tomorrow, on Friday, April 4. However, Neon has not yet announced or confirmed this release, so it is subject to change.
That said, we do expect that starting tomorrow on April 4, The Monkey movie will be available to buy and rent on Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Fandango At Home, and more. The price may vary depending on which platform you use to purchase the film, but on Amazon Prime the movie will cost $24.99 to buy.
The Monkey is not yet available to rent on digital platforms like Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Vudu, and more. You can only buy the film, starting tomorrow. The movie costs $24.99 to preorder.
The Monkey is not yet available on a subscription streaming service, but we do expect to see The Monkey streaming on Hulu eventually, because The Monkey is a Neon movie, and most Neon movies tend to go to Hulu, thanks to the Hulu and Neon output deal.
Unless the final stage of the Disney+ and Hulu merger finally happens, you’ll likely see The Monkey streaming on Hulu sometime in the next six months. Another Neon movie, Cuckoo, began streaming on Hulu a little over four months after it opened in theaters. If The Monkey follows a similar release pattern, you may see The Monkey on Hulu around late June 2025. On the other hand, another Neon release, It Lives Inside, began streaming on Hulu just three months after opening in theaters—so it’s not a hard and fast rule.
It’s all speculation right now. If you want to stream The Monkey at home, you can buy the movie on digital platforms tomorrow.
