Is there anything more classic than a killer clown in a horror movie? Yes, actually: A killer clown that hides in a cornfield! That’s the premise of Clown in a Cornfield, the new 2025 horror movie coming to digital platforms tomorrow.
Directed by Eli Craig, with a screenplay co-written by Craig and Carter Blanchard, Clown in a Cornfield is based on the best-selling 2020 horror novel of the same name by Adam Cesare. The story takes place in a small farm town in Missouri, where high school student Quinn Maybrook (played by Katie Douglas) is the new kid in town. Sure, there’s a rumor in her new school that someone dressed as the school mascot, a clown named Frendo, brutally murdered some teens back in the ’90s. But that was a long time ago! It’s totally fine now… right? Right?
Also starring Aaron Abrams, Carson MacCormac, Kevin Durand, and Will Sasso, Clown in a Cornfield first premiered at the 2025 South by Southwest Film Festival, where it was met with mostly positive reviews. It spent a month in theaters, where it racked up over $7.7 million at the worldwide box office. If you didn’t get a chance to see the movie in theaters, now is your chance to watch Clown in a Cornfield at home. But when will Clown in a Cornfield be streaming on Shudder for free? Here’s what we know.
Clown in a Cornfield will be available to buy or rent on digital platforms on Tuesday, June 10 at 12 a.m. Eastern Time (which is also 9 p.m. Pacific Time on Monday, June 9). You’ll be able to buy and rent digitally on Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Fandango At Home, and more. The price may vary depending on which platform you use to purchase the film, but on Amazon Prime the movie will cost $24.99 to buy, and $19.99 to rent. If you rent the movie, you’ll have 48 hours to view after hitting “play.”
Clown in a Cornfield is not available on subscription-based movie, but it is an RLJE Films and Shudder release, and will stream on the Shudder streaming platform, free to subscribers, sometime this year.
The Clown in a Cornfield Shudder release date has not yet been announced. The title was not included on the “new on Shudder” list of titles for June 2025. That said, another recent Shudder original, The Rule of Jenny Pen, came to Shudder about three weeks after opening in theaters, so it’s possible you’ll be able to watch Clown in a Cornfield on Shudder tomorrow, at the same time as the digital release.
However, other Shudder movies that opened in theaters have taken up to four months to come to the streaming service, so the wait time varies by title. It’s possible you might have to wait until October 2025 to stream Clown in a Cornfield on Shudder. The streamer might want to save it for a spooky season release.
