Will Ferrell reveals the controversial practice he thinks should be BANNED from weddings forever

Will Ferrell revealed the practice that he feels should never be a part of wedding receptions.

The 57-year-old Elf star, who has been actively promoting his latest film, You’re Cordially Invited, alongside his castmate Reese Witherspoon, recently discussed the topic in a new interview.

At one point, the star was asked what he thought should be banned when it came to weddings and he simply replied with: ‘Cash bar.’

One point of discussion was the concept of a cash bar at weddings, where guests are required to pay for their own drinks as the hosts do not cover the cost – a practice that has sparked some controversy.

The Hollywood actor – who has a net worth of $160 million – then added of cash bars in a chat with BuzzFeed UK: ‘That’s rude.’

Witherspoon, who also joined in on the interview, agreed with Will and stated, ‘That’s in really poor taste.’

Ferrell also added that the hosts should make sure that there is plenty of food for guests.

He recalled attending a friend’s wedding when there wasn’t enough – which he labeled as ‘not good’ and added ‘That’s a real no-no.’

Will Ferrell, who tied the knot with his wife Viveca Paulin in 2000, revealed that he is not a fan of the macarena being featured in wedding ceremony festivities.

And while recently talking to This Morning, the Step Brothers star recalled the prank he took part in while at a pal’s wedding in the past.

‘I have a friend who asked if I would stand up and object, so I did,’ Ferrell explained.

‘I stood up, in that moment where they’re like, “Does anyone object?” I said “I do! I love you Carol! Please, take me back!”‘

However, he soon realized that he had used the wrong name and said, ‘My friend, the groom, said, “This isn’t Carol, it’s Susan.”‘

‘And I went, “Oh, sorry,” and I sat back down. No one really laughed, except he laughed. So the joke didn’t quite land,’ Will admitted.

Will and Reese have been promoting their new Amazon Prime comedy titled You’re Cordially Invited – which dropped on the streaming site on Thursday, January 30.

Other stars that were cast in the project include Geraldine Viswanathan, Meredith Hagner, Jimmy Tatro and Celia Watson.

The premise is: ‘When two weddings are double-booked at the same venue, the father of one bride and the sister of the other bride try to preserve the wedding weekend,’ per an IMDB synopsis.

Ferrell was also one of the producers on the movie, along with Reese under her media company Hello Sunshine.

During a joint conversation with Glamour UK, Will discussed what ‘surprised’ him while working with the Legally Blonde actress.

‘I would say that with Hello Sunshine and how much Reese does as a producer…,’ he answered.

‘A lot of the episodic stuff she’s done recently that it was so fun to get in the comedy battleground with her, and to see that she is as funny an actress as anyone I’ve ever worked with.’

Will added, ‘I loved it because we both were in these scenes, and while we’re saying ridiculous things and screaming at each other.’
