USPS abruptly shuts post office after uncovering dangerous issues forcing customers to drive to other location

THE United States Postal Service has had to shut a post office after uncovering dangerous issues, forcing customers to drive to other locations.

Operations have been stopped temporarily due to a sewer issue within the building in the Logan, West Virginia branch, a spokesperson revealed.

Users of the Logan Post Office are currently required to collect their mail and utilize additional services at different sites like the Strollings Post Office, as informed to WSAZ.

The spokesperson added that the USPS is looking to address the dangerous issue, but has no date set for reopening.

As per the report, the mayor highlighted that on Wednesday, his office was made aware of the significant problem and promptly contacted the USPS.

He added that the city is desperately working to resolve the pressing issue that’s causing dangerous conditions in the building.

Just a few days ago, USPS Postmaster Louis DeJoy slammed his own agency as customer complaints are on the rise with the flailing agency.

DeJoy acknowledged the Postal Service’s failure after enduring years of financial struggles, as the agency plans to reduce its workforce by 10,000 employees to address the issues, which may lead to mail disruptions and slower deliveries for customers.

The postmaster general signed a deal with Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency and the General Services Administration to fix the agency’s budget, he said in a letter to Congress on Thursday.

In DeJoy’s letter, he shared his disappointment with the Postal Service’s system, calling it a ‘broken business model that was not financially sustainable without critically necessary and core change.”

“Fixing a broken organization that had experienced close to $100 billion in losses and was projected to lose another $200 billion, without a bankruptcy proceeding, is a daunting task,” he wrote.

“Fixing a heavily legislated and overly regulated organization as massive, important, cherished, misunderstood and debated as the United States Postal Service, with such a broken business model, is even more difficult.”

USPS blasted for its desperate last ditch attempt to fix weeks long delays as workers say it will ‘make more problems’

And other USPS workers banded together to protest President Donald Trump’s efforts to privatize the agency.

Employees warned that the proposed structural changes would change everything Americans expect from the agency.

“The president mentioned some sort of a merger with a private sector. We are 100% opposed to any sort of privatization,” says Brian Renfroe, the president of the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC).

The Mississippi resident came out to represent the number of postal workers from rural states who are concerned about the plans to privatize the agency, as reported by a local Mississippi news outlet, WLOX.

More customers have also been left fuming after the postal service scrapped a vital mail delivery program, leaving residents without timely mail for months.

The change has sparked outrage, as late bills, missed paychecks, and expensive reconnection fees pile up for many in the community.

In Clio, South Carolina, residents living on Calhoun Street are at the center of the disruption.

For years, the USPS had provided Group E PO Boxes to residents in the area due to the lack of street delivery.

Now, in a controversial move, the postal service is transitioning to street delivery, ending the free Group E program, reported ABC local affiliate WPDE.
