A Utah man has been charged with mutlple felonies in the kidnapping and rape of a 9-year-old girl more than two years ago.
Tyler James Webb, 23, is facing serious charges according to court documents, including child kidnapping, rape of a child, sodomy of a child, aggravated sexual assault of a child, aggravated child abuse, and three counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child, as reported by KSL.
According to the legal papers, on April 13, 2022, a 9-year-old girl was at her home when her sister contacted Webb, instructing him to pick her up. The exact connection between the sister and Webb remains undisclosed, as well as the purpose of Webb picking up the girl.
Allegedly, Webb took the 9-year-old girl from the residence and placed her in the trunk of his car before driving her to a car wash, where he reportedly sexually assaulted her with a vacuum, the police stated.
The girl “tried to run away, but Webb slapped and choked her” and shoved her back into the trunk. Webb then drove into the mountains and raped the girl again at the edge of a cliff.
From there, he drove her to his father’s home, and the victim again “tried to run from Webb, but he caught her and tied her up again.” Then he raped her twice more before driving her to the state capitol and taking lewd photographs of her.
The case was investigated by Taylorsville police, who didn’t say when they learned about the allegations, who told them about them, or why it took more than two years to bring charges.
Prosecutors are asking that Webb be held without bail “due to the serious nature of the allegations and to keep the victim safe.”
