What will be closed on Inauguration Day?
The doubling up of the Inauguration and MLK Day will make the lack of open locations all the more noticeable.
Martin Luther King (MLK) Day is a federal holiday, impacting the schedules and services of various federal offices that usually operate during the Inauguration.
Americans can expect most federal offices at a state and local level to be shut for the day, including post offices.
There are no deliveries on federal holidays.
As well as the post office, delivery companies FedEx and UPS will have limited operations on January 20, 2025.
All markets in the New York Stock Exchange and NASDAQ also plan to recognize the occasion.
Banks and their branches will be closed to honour MLK, as well as all Delaware schools and colleges.

Aside from Donald Trump, Bill Clinton is the only president to be sworn in on MLK Day.
He took the oath for his second term in 1997, the last time that the Inauguration and MLK Day shared a spot on the event calendar.
In 1985, Ronald Raegan was sworn in on Sunday, January 20, and Inauguration celebrations were held on Monday, January 21.
It was Raegan who had ordered MLK Day to be celebrated on the third Monday of every January.
The Sunday-Monday run also took place for Barack Obama’s second Inauguration in 2013.
What can be expected for Donald Trump’s second Inauguration?
While few details are known about the specifics of the day, the Inauguration will once again thrust Trump back into the presidential hot seat.
Alongside Trump, J.D. Vance will be sworn in as the 50th Vice-President of the United States.
The event will include a swearing-in ceremony, a signing ceremony, an inaugural luncheon, a pass-in-review, a procession, and a parade.
Inaugural balls are held at various venues before and after the inaugural ceremonies.
Several Democratic members of Congress have announced that they will not be attending the event in protest.
It is expected that Joe Biden will attend the ceremony, as is custom for former presidents.
The event will be the re-inauguration of Trump, whose first was held in 2017.
This is only the second time in US history that the Inauguration will be non-consecutive for a president.
In 1893, Grover Cleveland had his second inauguration non-consecutively.
